Weird Sweat...

I have been adding mileage lately because I want to run the in Memphis half in December. I ran a little over 11 miles last night, and although that's not the longest I have ever run, its the most this year. About 7-8 miles into it, I noticed I wasn't dripping sweat any more. My clothes were soaked, but I went to wipe the sweat off of my forhead, and it was gel-like. I felt really good running last night, and nothing else was different.

The only thing that I can think off would be some side effect of dehydration. I didn't take water with me because I thought I was only going to run 4-5 miles.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Gel-like, huh? I have been badly dehydrated in the past at times but never had gel-like stuff. I don't know what that could be.

Are you sure it wasn't sweat mixed with gel or hair spray dripping from your hair or lotion you put on your skin?

So you're bald ... no hair gel needed ;)

And your sweat was the consistency of gel?

That's weird. Really weird.

I've had salt crystals forming on my top lip from sweating so much (crazy!), but my sweat has always been in liquid form ... not gel ;)

Not bald, just hair cut short. It's not the consistency of "Goo" or anything like that, but when I wiped my head, it wasn't like normal sweat. It was also pretty humid last night. I dunno, I'm not too concerned about it, but its weird it hasnt happened to anyone else.

Take water with you. When your sweat starts to get weird it's usually a pretty sound sign that your body can no longer regulate your temperature, which can be really dangeoraus.

I normally do if i plan on more than 4-5 miles. I just felt really good running last night and kept on going.

i getting baffled myself. You sound like someone who runs on a decent basis and trys to stay hydrated doing so. And you only noticed this last night, and not any other time??

At first I thought about hair gel, lotion.etc, but that was voided. Some parts of your body with perspire a different consisency of sweat (more milky and viscous), but the head doesn't qualify.

How's your acne? Do you get a lot of oily build-ups in your pores at all??

Nope, I'm 27 and never had a problem with acne. I'm about to go out and run around the same distance and see what happens (taking a water bottle this time!)

Well, I went out and ran 13.7 miles yesterday with a stop around 7 to got some water. I drank a 20oz bottle of water and headed home. Sweat was normal today, I'm thinking that my skin maybe just have been really oily. I did run at night the first time, so oil buildup from all day may have been the culprit.
