Weird Shin Pain - Please Help

I get a really dull pain on the insides of my shins, about 3" above my ankles. It's a bone pain. It hurts when I run, but I can put it out of my head then. It's after I'm done running that it hurts the most.

It's a consistent, dull ache unless I apply pressure, at which point it gets really acute. It seems a little more intense in my left shin than my right shin, though both also hurt.

I have a good pair of running shoes. I live in Minnesota where it's still in the 20ish degree range and I run on concrete sidewalks. I'm sure that those two factors ADD, but I've consistently had pain here when running (cleats/grass, barefoot/sand, you name it).

What is this, and what can I do to alleviate it? Thanks a lot for your help.

I get the exact same pain in the exact same location. This is one version of shin splints. Icing them after running helps, proper shoes, and backing off from running until they heal.

How long have you been running? Are you new to running?

I wouldn't say I'm new to running, and I've kinda had this pain all the time, but it's just gotten worse recently.

Not coincidentally, I've been running MORE recently. I run roughly 6 miles 3 times a week, whereas before I was lifting more weights, sprints/plyos, and like 1 mile runs as an after-thing.

Is there like an ankle bracelet or something I could get? I'm definitely going to try icing them, thanks for that. Can't believe I didn't think of that earlier.

I think you can try ibuprofen to help with the inflammation as this is muscle fatigue and/or tendon inflammation. As for a brace, there is no prosthesis that will help.

JPfitness recommends putting your legs in a big bucket of icy water. I do this occasionally.

Alright, thanks a lot man!
