Weight training, rest and cardio?????

Hi everyone!

I have a question for which I haven't been able to find a clear answer in the online world so far.
I have read on the topic of strength training and rest between sessions, so I now understand I should leave at least 24/48 hours of rest between work-outs. My question is, if I've had an intense lower-body workout, is it ok to do cardio the next day, or will it affect muscle development negatively? I haven't been able to find too much info related to that, so I would be thankful for anyone more experienced or knowledgeable who could shed some light.

So, is it ok to do cardio (running/elliptical trainer) the next day after a lower-body work-out (considering I am not in pain, but my muscles do feel a bit stiff)? Would this hinder my efforts of toning up and affect the recovery of my lower body muscles?

Thanks!

It all depends. But in general, cardio the day after is fine, but the day before...not so ideal. Either way, low to moderate intensity cardio shouldn't be too much of an issue. High intensity cardio (eg sprints) could cut into your strength training, though.
