Drinking a large glass of water half an hour before eating your meals, or having a low-cal bowl of veggie soup or salad (not doused in high-fat, high-sugar dressing) as a starter are things that might help you naturally control your portions.
A high protein breakfast never really appealed to me.
It might work for some people - but it is far from a necessity.
I sometimes have breakfast and sometimes I don't. I did this in my big project too and it never did any harm.
