Hi There,

Unsure if I should post this here or in he newcomers section?

I'm after a bit of advice / help..

Firstly a little about myself. I'm 28 years old. a type 1 diabetic (inject 4 times a day) I currently weigh 17st 8lb. I did weigh 18stone 6lb before i sort of went on a healthy eating plan in January this year. I got my weight down to 17stone 2lb but its fluctuated back up again.

This is the first time i seriously have given time and really stuck to healthy eating as well as excercise. I'm just after some advice. My ideal weight would be about 15stone 7lb. I say this because i'm a big guy. always have been since i can ever remember.

I have been doing the slimming world plan since january. I excercise now almost daily, On a monday I play a side football for an hour, as well as going on the ea active fit for the playstation 3.

however the weight loss has just stopped. I really desperately want to lose some more chunk but finding it extremely difficult.. i'vr put on 4lb in the last 2 weeks and its kind of getting me down heartened now. i need some tips for me to try to get me motivated again. can anyone help with advice etc?

thanks guys!!

Maybe drop your evening carbs? Sorry diabetes is so complicated:(

A weight loss diet and regular exercise are critical factors in the management of type 1 diabetes. To effectively control your blood glucose levels and lose weight, it is important to understand the proper ways to balance food intake–physical activity and insulin. Making healthy food choices is something that has both immediate and long-term effects for someone with type 1 diabetes.

When I plateaued and started gaining my weight back, I had difficulty getting my motivation back as well. Then I found this 90 day challenge with a chance at some really cool prizes and that gave me back some motivation. I know there are all different types of challenges in different places, plus you can give yourself your own goals and reward system if that helps with motivation. The products used in the challenge I have been doing, are safe for people with diabetes (they are also gluten free, lactose free and heart healthy), and I am sure there must be other types of things out there that are as well. Good luck. :)

One good thing i would do is start looking for information on people who have been cured of diabetes. Their is this book called "Natural cures" i would suggest getting it from a library or book store and do everything that is suggested in the book to help with your diabetes. I know of several people that have been cured of disease by that book. I have done astronomical amounts of research on natural ways of healing the body and many people in the world are being misled in believing their are no cures. it's a shame. Anyways give it a shot and let me know how it goes. as for the weight-loss try eating fruits that are rich in antioxidants. That's something i got my mother on a few months back and she has lost almost 20 pounds and is sleeping allot better. when the body is getting proper nutrition it runs at full capacity. plays a big role in weight loss.

::facepalm:: Again with the antioxidants for weight loss myth.

As far as your weight loss:

1) Don't fall for the 90 challenge hoax.

2) Don't listen to an online person claiming to be a doctor.

3) have faith, keep at it and talk to your real doctor. I'm sure he has patients that have been in your boat. If you keep working at it the right way, it will eventually break and your weight well return downward.

I don't know what you have been exposed to, but the 90 Day Challenge I am a part of has helped people lose more than 7 million pounds. I myself have lost 120 lbs. I don't consider that to be a hoax. Plus these products have cured people of Diabetes as well.

I won't claim that it works for everyone, but I am sure there are many things out there that work for different people. Putting down what IS working for other people, doesn't help anyone.

Kelvin, I don't know if you're still around, but the first question I would ask is: How regular are your blood glucose readings? Are you staying within a relatively small range, or do they fluctuate quite a bit? Generally, the more stable your sugars are, the better in terms of continuing to lose weight.

Make sure that you're visiting your physician as your weight changes because your medication needs may change. I'm not as familiar with Type 1 as I am with Type 2, but if you're weight changes significantly, then often your meds will have to be adjusted to keep your sugars more stable throughout the day.

You may just be at the point where you really need to take a look at your exercise and overall diet and see if something needs to change

grats on your amazing weight loss. I think you need to realize though that many of these fads do not work for the general public.

The op should talk to or continue to talk to his or her doctor about this, request speaking with a dietitian maybe if you are unfamiliar with what foods to eat with your current condition.

I personally have never used the kinect or ps move but can you really get a real workout on there? I can't see someone burning that many calories by doing these activities.

OP don't get down on yourself, everyone goes through a rut. I wanted to start my weight loss over a year ago, shit happened and it didn't work out. I am back now and I am more determined then ever.

I've only lost a few so far and I haven't noticed a physical change yet, but man do I feel a lot better then I did a month ago. Keep it up, talk to your doctor I know you will find out whats best for you.
