Weight loss stagnant

Hi friends,

I am 27 year old male. I was overweight. With some sort of confidence, i started running. The results were good. But at the moment, I am frustrated.

My calorie count is 1200-1400 per day. I am really concentrating on what I eat. Avoid junks and packed foods, alcohol and smoking.

I have been running for 6 months now. I weighed 106 kgs and now I am 95. I have lost kilos and dropped of inches from my waist and hips. But I am out a saturation point now. I am going no where.

My current activity is 5 km jogging/running. In the beginning i used to run at a slower pace, after getting used to running, I increased my pace. out of the 5 km, 1.5 km is 45 degree incline. I was covering the distance in 45 minutes. Now I cover the same is 30-35 minutes. Then Kick boxing workout for 25 minutes.

In the evening, I do weight training for 1 hour. The weight got stuck at 95. If I reduce the calories below the 1300 count, I would loose 1 kg on the scale. But I feel very tired at my work place. When I get it back to the 1300 calorie, the weight goes to 95 again.

I am so frustrated. Friends and Experts help me out.

Hi Pravin,

I'm no expert, but what would happen if you just didn't weigh yourself for a while, and just concentrated instead on how you feel and how you look? How you fit into clothes, etc..? Will being at a certain number on the scale make a difference to your life? Building muscle will make the numbers go up, and young guys seem to build muscle pretty easily. You're young and you sound healthy as a horse!

Although, having said that, I am interested in what the scales say also. I only weigh myself at the end of each month, and if I haven't lost much, I don't mind too much. Mostly because I have begun to realise that the weight loss journey is a marathon, not a sprint. This is a long term lifestyle change, not an immediate turn around. I can remember being discouraged and frustrated and giving up when I lost nothing, or gained. But now I just think "Oh well, I fell off the horse this month. I'll do better next month." Because this is long term.

Best of luck with your journey :) You can do anything you set your mind to.

I have decided to add biking or football into my routine for this month. Let me see how much i shed?

Macronutrient! Look it up the amount I eat is ridiculous. I'm hitting an 800cal deficit with all the correct nutrients. Counting calories will only get you so far. You need carbs I eat 6-7 times per day. I can barley fit it all in but I'm losing fat daily. I have enormous amounts of energy because my body has everything it needs. Counting calories is severely restrictive. You do not need or want to go below 0.8 calorie per pound of body weight it's dangerous and also the reason you have hit this plateau. Think of a pyramid. At the bottom you have fruit and veg this should be the main volume of meals, next is carbs, then protein, dairy, and fish. This will give you everything you need if you want more information just get back to me I will be more than happy to help

slow or no.. it's the only way to ensure that all the hard work you have put in stays with you. Loose it fast gain it fast. It's all about changing things one step at a time
