Weight Loss Lag Time and Patience

I am very curious to know if there is a lag time associated with body fat loss/gain. I know that when weight training a lot of one's gains come during the rest/recovery periods. For example, when I was doing serious weight training years ago I had a 6 week on - 2 week off program and I noticed that my gains in strength and body mass gains often exploded about 1 week into the two week rest period.

Is there any similar effect with body fat loss/gain? (Maybe I should ask it this way: If I eat two double quarter pounders for lunch when can I expect to see it in my love handles?)

There is actually quite a bit of lag on gain, but even more on loss. I am writing an article on this right now but the short of it...

It breaks down something like this.

In the aspect of gain well it is broken down into a few sections.

To gain actual weight? Immediately ;) Food and water itself has weight, your bodies reaction to that food (be it water retention, etc) cause weight. You can jump up 5-7 pounds within hours of 1 meal.

To gain actual fat? You are at all times in a point of negative or positive storage. Meaning you are either working on storing left over calories from a meal or working on bring forth energy from stored calories. Depending on digestion, what you eat, how much you ate, what you needed to eat for your body, etc. is what determines that amount of time.

To lose, it is a lot more complicated than that but basically it can take a lot longer to lose actual weight and actual fat. I will post my article when done, hope that helps for now.
