Ok well I decided to start lifeting weights about say uhmmm I don't know how long ago. And well due to this i have lost about 10 lbs (all fat and stuff of course) and gained muscles (yay me).
But I have come to the conclusion that I need different "kinds" of workin outs.
I have simple weight stuff (none of those big ass Bowflex janx), what i mean is i have a average bench, enough bars, and weights from 5-25 lbs. I need work out that target these zones: stomach (ewww fatty crap)biceps, triceps, and some other good workouts.

If possible can I been shown some pics of what they look like?

thank you and have a nice day

Stomach - Stand with your legs slightly apart and hold the weight in one hand. Bend to the side, as if you were sliding your hand down the side of your leg (but obv holding the weight).

I've got a really big poster of workouts actually. I'll try take a pic tomorrow and then post it here okay

x

Read the stickie at the top of this section of the forum called "workout." That is what you should be doing.

You can't target specific areas of your body with weights and expect to shed the fat there. That isn't the way it works.

Best belly burn ever......

run, and run some more. That the only way I have ever got rid of my gut completely nothing else work as well.

Steve

Why???? It works for me. No matter what else I do, it the only way i can lose my gut.

It may seem that the running directly impacts your gut. But it doesn't. It is the impact that all that running has on your state of energy flux. There are more optimal approaches to controlling your energy flux than running, running, and running some more.

Are you asking me for advice on "more optimal approaches" to controlling energy flux?

yes sir, and it'd be nice to know what that is.

Simple. Read everything I say around here. You will NEVER find me recommending to someone a "boat load" of running. That is, unless they are are training for a marathon or something of that nature.

You will though, see me state how food plays the largest role on energy flux. If you feel the need to run until you are blue in the face just to see noticeable changes in your physique, I would bank on the idea that something is "off" with your diet.

for the last 4 years there was plenty wrong with my diet, until about a month ago. I come from a military background at my fittest i weight 165, i ran 2 miles in 11 min 53 sec, my body fat % was around 12% the only other thing i did besides run was callosities and proper nutrition. Then I started lifting weight and overloading on healthy calories and stopped running and packed on the pounds. Then came a serious injury and poor nutrition (not training related and turn into a giant ball of fat at 231 ponds (33% body fat)! Now I'm trying to lose all the fat to get back to 12% body fat.

There is certainly more than one way to skin a cat. Especially when it comes to losing weight. Most of what I say around here in terms of recommendations and suggetions is based on my idea of the "optimal approach."

The optimal approach being that which leads to not only fat loss, but also muscle maintenance.

And what are callosities? Do you mean calisthenics?

that the word! i couldn't find it spell checker.

e72, forgive me if I've recommended this before, but please take a look at the Index of WLF "Keepers". That has a ton of great advice from Steve and other WLF'ers on this subject.

Thank TomO
