Hi All,
Your forum looks like just what I have been looking for. I really need some accountability and encouragement.

I know some of my issues include stress eating, eating out during work travel, and not making enough time for exercies. Any words of encouragement, helpful hints, and stories of success would help!

Thanks all! :)

welcome Nikita

Take what is useful and disregard what is not from below:

I understand about the stress eating. I put on atleast 20 lbs of stress eating.
I recently started keeping an "emotions" journal about 3 wks ago. I started to really stop and think about that very moment. Was I really hungry or was it something else? Sometimes I have to sit down and write about what I'm feeling and other times I know right away "no, I'm not hungry, I'm just nervous." Then I start to acknowledge that feeling and try to understand it. "I'm mad and why am I so mad?" It helps me to reach the next step - really dealing with it emotionally and not physically- by putting something in my mouth. "What can I do to fix it instead of just eating chocolate?" I find now that I sometimes have to make hard decisions in certain situations but acknowledging my feelings gives me a voice, validation and freedom.

Keeping different journals have really help in many areas of my life--when you see it on paper it's real. daily activity, food intake, anything really

It's a work in progress--one day at a time

Don't forget that you deserve to be at your goal weight! :)

CM is right! Its a one day at a time deal. I've been working on it for a year off and on, and its still a bit of a battle, but all you can do, is take it one day at a time!

We are here for you! We'll give you that support you need!

Welcome aboard!

Thanks CM, great advice, I have been thinking of starting a food journal and adding in the emotional compontent makes complete sense.

Thanks to both CM and newbride02 for your welcome and support!

Nikita,
I think you will really like it here. I just joined about 2 weeks ago and everyone here is great. Next time they get a 2-week challenge started, join it. I just started one last week, and it really helps to know the others in your group are counting on you.

Good luck in reaching your goal.

Thanks!

I appreciate all the welcoming support!
I'll keep a look out for a new group to join. :D
I am worried b/c I have a big project coming up at work that will require a lot of hours sitting at my desk and lots of stress. There is a woman at work who has started climbing the stairs in our office building a few times a day so I may join her - a great stress reliever and calorie buster! :)

Welcome, Nikita! Stairs are a great place to start, and a little break in the middle of a stressul workday will probably feel nice. If you've got internet access during the day, I would recommend a site like fitday.com to track calories and chart your progress...at least for me it really helps to have a list of exactly what I've eaten and see how my calorie totals change from day to day.

Hi Nikita! :)
I'm new too and totally understand about emotional eating. I eat out of boredom and when i am insecure about something. You totally don't think of it at the time, but it is true that when you acknowledge it somehow, either by writing it down or connecting it with an activity, it is so much more apparent.

Welcome by the way! You will do great :)
