Weight gain during Menstruation?

So, I've been actively training since January (nothing too strenuous as I have exams). I started out at 206.5 lbs and am now 196.2 lbs. Actually, I've been struggling off of 194-195. I got as far as 191.3 or so, and then my weight went back up. And I don't understand why. I've eaten healthy foodstuffs, and should have been losing weight. :( The only thing I can see is that it's that time fo the month; although I have been controlling my cravings etc etc.
This is incredibly frustrating :( I want to be at least 160 by July, and this so not working.
Any tips/ ideas on what's going on?
I've been around the same weight for about 2 weeks I believe. =S

=/ hmm I know you can gain weight because of bloating up during your period but I dont think that should last 2 weeks! .. unless u get it for 2 weeks which I hope not =)
The only thing i can think of is that altho you're eating healthy but still not in deficit? Cant say much, could you give us more info?
What you've been eating, how much, exercise, height, anything u can think of?

It doens't last two weeks, it's pretty intermittent due to stress and whatnot. Like I bled for possibly 2 days very lightly and it more or less stopped :|
I have PCOS most likely, but I have to wait until these exams are over before I go check it out.
My exercise is skipping and playing with a medicine ball (12lbs). It worked up to a couple weeks ago :|
Uh, I'm PRETTY sure i'm in deficit....
Breakfast consists of Post Frosted Shredded Wheat cereal
Lunch is a sandwich (with enough veggies to be a veggie burger that just happened to have some meat in it)
Dinner usually rice and chicken.
Sometiems a small snack in between :|
I think I go for about a 1900cal per day.
All that adds up to about 1500 if so much (can't really average the lunch and dinner)
And exercise takes away about 500 cals (i THINK)

I'm sorry to break it to you, but I doubt you'll get any results by guessing at calorie intake and exercise. People tend to underestimate what they eat and overestimate what they burn unless a food diary with accurate portions is kept.

I always feel huge when im on my period! if you google your question you'll find alot of women have the same problem, i usually gain it the week before and the week during my period. but aparently, drinking more water will help?

xx

last week i didn't work out as much and lost quite abit of weight. This week i've given 100% in exercise and eaten right but have hardly lost anything at all compared to last week....i can only think it's because i'm on my period....this sucks!

haha and I bet you lost a lot more after your period :p I did. I was like wow I lost that much? because in the end, you unbloat and you will see the weight lost.

I can only answer for me, however I ALWAYS gain about 3-4 lbs 2 days before my period... it lasts the whole way through, and then the next day after its over..... im back down to my prior weight... and actually i am typically about 1-2 pounds lighter than that.

relax... its normal! :)

Blah- I'm going through this issue right now. It's only my second period since I started dieting, but in both cases I've had the same experience as M Marie. I really ramped up the exercise this past week, only to gain weight. I KNOW it's only my period, but I still get so frustrated I could scream. I'm sure the hormones don't help my state of mind either....

True that woman! I just made it a point that if i know my period is coming or is here... i do not weigh myself... it just pisses me off and puts me in a funk otherwise!

Just answering for myself - as we're all different - I always gain water weight a few days before my period and lose it about 1/2 way through. I don't freak out about it because I know it's just the way my body works.

I did want to comment on another part of your post though: You said you want to weigh 160 by July and I have to say I do think that's a bit of an unrealistic goal. It's generally accepted that a healthy rate of weight loss is around 1% of your bodyweight per week. For you that would be around 1.8 to 2 lbs per week. At that rate, you could expect to healthily lose around 20 pounds by the middle of July, which would put you in the mid 170s.

That's a good, healthy rate of loss, so don't let that discourage you.
