Weight gain but pants are looser? NorMal?

Hi im a 24 year old female and i have been doing weights training with dumbells, and own weight for
About a month now for 3 days a week. I do about 40 mins weight training as in like dumbells for biceps, triceps,
Puchups, situp, lunges, squats etc. but i have noticed i have put on weight but my pants seem looser???
Is that normal? I am tryin to build muslce as well which i know is so hars for women which sucks.
Do am i loosin weight or am i gainin it or is it muscle. I might just add, im not thin. Im a size 16 and im 174cms talland weigh 94 kgs. Also am i doin the right thing??

Thanks

Hey mikkitui,

If you are finding that you're gaining weight but your pants are fitting looser, then it's likely that your body composition is changing (for the better). It sounds like you're adding muscle and losing fat which is great! The main thing is that your body shape is changing, which is more important than the number on the scale!

Hey mikkitui,

Don't forget also that muscle tissue weighs more than fat cells. So in the beginning a lot of people get freaked out and think that they're putting on weight, but they're not - it's just that they're burning fat and adding muscle. If you keep it up and really start to burn through those fat stores, then you'll see the weight drop down again. Like everyone above said, it's a good change and stay away from the scale.
