Wondering what the thinking is...

While maintaining current weight burn fat and gain muscle. This weight exchange is hard to do if not impossible. Just trying to get the view of the forum on this one. Im guessing it can be done with a lot of hard work...

Hmmm... Wouldnt that be nice...

I suppose it depends on what weight you are attempting to exchange too. In my case, I wouldnt mind being 270 pounds of pure muscle, but then I would look like Hulk Hogan's bigger, stronger brother and would have to work 3-4 hours a day simply to maintain it. But thats not to say it isnt possible. My dream weight is 220 - 230 pounds and most of it muscle. I know I could become "skinny" and shoot for 190-200, but I dont want to be skinny at all. I want to be big, just not fat. And I do believe it is possible. My doctor figures the right weight for me is around 240. But we must be realistic. Alot depends on your current weight and height to determine if such an exchange is realistic, let alone possible.

For example, if you were 5"5' and 300 pounds, I would say even with all the hard work in the world you could not exchange that into pure muscle. And really, would you want to?

Most people I've seen get down to their desired body fat percentage first. During the cutting phase, they try to preserve their strength, but cannot gain muscle mass. Then, once they reach their goal, they go into a calorie surplus mode, and start putting on muscle.
