We need to change these Guests into Members..

Here are the stats right now:

Currently Active Users: 245 (14 members and 231 guests)

Who thinks that's ridiculous 231 guests, maybe we should change our viewing privileges or something. It'd get more guests to become members. I don't know, we should do something anyway, what do you guys think?
 
That's typical of any forum. A lot of people are reading, getting the feel or perhaps just surfing.

I often browse and read without signing in. I wouldn't force them to join just to read the posts.
 
I could see getting a feel for the forum, I was a lurker for a long while and forcing them to join just to read wouldn't really help.. But there has got to be some way maybe.. 1 out of every 16 people surfing is a member, we could do better than that!
 
yea have noticed that aswell, never seen such a crappy ratio of member/guest on any forum before.
No idea why its like that here tho
 
I disagree - a lot of the 'guests' will become members in their own good time. In the meantime, hopefully they are absorbing a lot of the useful information to be found on this site. I have seen loads of new members who begin by saying "I have been lurking here for months....".

Besides, maybe not all of them have anything to say ;)
 
A guest is someone who has nothing to say but still uses the forum.

If all the guests were members then they would just end up trolling crap all over the forum. If someone really wants to say something then they will sign up. We all did.

Quite right, I hardly ever sign in because I really don't know enough to give good advice. It would be less of an accurate resource if people like me started adding inaccurate crap because a mate told me it was true

What you need to add to get new members is to create a members only part the claims to have naked member pictures or something (then you can charge too) :D .
 
Lets be realistic here... new users on forums like these are very nervous to post at first. CCR has a point, a lot of people are here to learn, not necessarily contribute. There's nothing wrong with that. This forum is pretty friendly, but most web forums are cynical and downright nasty to new users.

Remember a good portion of those guest could be web search engine spiders.

BTW....if I am your hero why are you past due on your fan club dues? I have no choice but to send it to collections at this point.

Not saying its bad, just strange. A forum that has several hundred people browsing 24/7 has the potential of becoming pretty huge, dont know if thats a goal here.
