Way to breathe,dude!

So,i`m interesting in the pros and cons of breathing methods i and other people use while running long distance, short distance or long distance in intense speed.I guess ill set the first example.

I breathe through my mouth on long distance runs.I think that that way i get more oxigen and more oxigen equals more energy. The cons of this seem to be that the air i breathe is not filtered(but i live pretty much in the countryside.Pherhaps it`s not so bad to breathe unfiltered air if theres alot of forest around?) and i also think i might look slightly retarded to people who see a guy running, his mouth open.

In short distance runs i don`t really bother to think about it and breathe through my nose.

Long distance in intense speed...i can`t even do that. However if You can, please tell me how you breathe in those cases.

So,is my breathing method wrong and why?How do you breathe during your runs? What are your method`s pros and cons?

Think about growing a moustache so people can't tell whether your mouth is open.

I've taken to breathing out of synchrony with my pace, lately, on the theory that otherwise I need to either slow my breathing or my pace, neither of which I want to do. But it's just a theory.

yeah i try to breath through my nose and exhale through my mouth, but to be honest when im going full pelt im a little bit distracted, i.e. the build up of latic acid :)

breathe the way you are comfortable with. When you exercise intensely, you probably won't be able to get enough air through your nose fast enough, so you need to start using your mouth. Everyone who jogs fast breathes with their mouth, so don't worry about looking weird.
