Water fasting goal

Hello all. My birthday is on October 31st and I decided to go on a water fast for 30 days. Mostly it is because of the weight loss (got out of a relationship, was depressed about a lot of different things) and I was just basically drinking beer every day and eating nothing but fast food and gained about 30 pounds. I read online that water fasting is safe (for those who think otherwise) and is recommended not only for weight loss (that's just a bonus) but to basically reboot your body and get all of those toxins out from the months I have been gorging on unhealthy food and alcohol. As of today, I am on day 6 (started October 1st) and I am not sure if anyone in this forum has been through this before but I just want some motivation because it is hard lol. I mean, I do not feel hungry anymore, but I do still have cravings. The first 1-3 days were horrible as I just kept hearing my stomach growling and begging for food. Day 4 was a little better but I had so much stomach acid built up that I could not sleep and actually had to throw up. Day 5 I woke up for work exhausted (not because I was sleepy but my body was just out of energy). I took a 20 minute shower and was just completely drained. I could not even dry myself and put on clothes without taking short 20 second breaks to catch my breath. However, I believe this was the day that my body entered ketosis because by the afternoon I had a lot of energy. Today I woke up fine and normal as if I ate breakfast and still feeling good right now, but I work in a small office where co workers constantly eat in front of me. Like I said before, I do not have the sensation of hunger anymore and my sense of smell (because of this fast) is extremely high so I basically smell all the different types of food they are eating. It is giving me a huge craving to eat lol. My question is, has anyone done a water fast here before? If so, how long did you go for and what kept you motivated in times where you were at your lowest point? Thanks for the insight.

Hey Shock,

I've never tried a water cleanse but am very familiar with cleansing and would love to assist you along your journey. Feel free to reach out.

I'm starting a similar fast today, but only for a week. I want to eliminate a lot of processed foods from my diet, and soda. Question: were you consuming caffeine or refined sugar? I've heard that giving both up is brutal for about five days, but then you start to feel a lot better. The increased sense of smell? That's one of the results of giving up that sugar. I hope this works for you - me as well!

So, starving by not eating anything at all except water. I was going to do this yesterday but ate some snacks. Today, gonna try not eating anything at all. See a couple days like this. But 30 days is long. I heard like "3 weeks without food". Might try like 2 weeks, take a break for about 1 week, then go for 2 weeks again.

I did a water fast a few months back with this one program. It worked for me. Yes, it was difficult staying on track in the beginning but as the days passed it became easier and easier. Now I just do it to detox every couple of months. It's an easy way to burn fat fast if you can keep discipline.

Good luck, Shock. Keep that determination. I hope you hit your mark on that scale.

Sammi do not rob your body of the nutrients you need. You are on the right track however, you have to detox yourself and that's in your fat cells. I am on a nutritional program that allowed me to lose 11 lbs in under 11 days. When you have the time I'd love to share it with you to see if it will be a good fit for you too!
