I have a ton of this stuff growing everywhere in the river at my place in northern Michigan. I'm just wondering if anyone knows a good way to store it. Can I freeze it?
Unfortunately, I think freezing it would make it mushy. If you want it to stay crisp and fresh for salad eating then you'd be best to just pick it as you need it and say goodbye once the season is over.
You could always try freezing a little and see how it thaws out, but freezing usually bursts the cells in the leaves making them lose their crisp freshness.
Make it a little aquarium to grow and stay alive in! Haha.
Yeah, plants don't really freeze all that well though. I'd say whatever you can refrigerate will last as long as your average salad and that's about it.
