Warning Pilates is a bad fad, Stop the Madness!!!!!!!!!!

Ladies and gentlemen,
I would like to inform all of you that pilates is a fad just like the Atkins diet. I have read through some of the threads and it is sad to see how many women rely on pilates and do absolutely no weight training. There is also core training which is also fabulous for toning the entire body. Please ladies do yourself a favour and stop the pilates madness. As I said in another thread you will not ever look like the celebs that claim they only do pilates. By only doing pilates, you will have sore backs, necks, and spines.

Research the core training, and start weight training, and treadmill cardio. Oh yeah and take a look at your diets too. If only people would turn off their televisions and start to activate their brains they would definitely see a difference in their physical appearance.

I wish that Stott Pilates and Winsor Pilates would start to go by the way of the pet rock and the thigh master. It angers me when I see how much money these con artists make on junk food and fast food victims. They always have these really fit hot looking people in their infomercials. Little do they tell you that these people go to the gym about 10-12 times a week and are pumping iron 3 out of those 10-12 times. Come on folks give your heads a shake, pilates is absolute garbage.

Just like everything in this game, something that works for one person may not work for another.

It's all about trial and error.

pilates aint for everybody :p

but for those that do try it, if u dedicate, u will see improvement imo

thanks for the info/warnin though!

I disagree as well. Yes, other forms of exercise such as weigh training and cardio are very important, but pilates can also be part of a well rounded fitness program. In fact, incorporating a flexibility aspect in to a fitness program is an excellent idea. A lot of people also find pilates is awesome for reducing stress.

Disagree

I disagree Ive been doing Pilates for years and see and feel the difference daily. Everyones body has a different reaction to the variety of fitness programs that are out there.

I completely disagree aswell..

I started pilates as I suffered lower back pain from having weak core strength. Pilates, incorporated into my exercise routine with weights and cardio, has dramatically reduced by back pain, increased my flexability, given me 6 pac abs, better posture.. shall I go on... I know these benefits are due to pilates, as I was doing weights and cardio before I started pilaties..
I agree pilates alone would not be a complete well rounded exercise program, but just as only going cardio is not a well rounded exercise program either. Dont be so quick to jugde, pilates has helped many people achieve great results, particularly with pain, when incoroprated into an exercise program...

Pilates isnt just about the workout either. There is the mind and relaxation component to it as well, thats the reason I occasionly do pilates and also yoga.

I'm going to - rep you for this, and a majority of your other posts. I'm just going to come out and post here so's I don't forget.

Have a nice day :)

Pilates is like any other workout. If it is not done properly it is dagerouse and can cause injury. I have atually written a paper on the merits of pilates. That main problem with it is when people do it themselves uninstructed from videos and books. The movments need to be coached and taught properly!!! Then is is fine!!!! I will just say that different people react differently to the same workout. This can be where problems occur.

I'd find it hard to imagine that Pilates (I'm almost certain it was Pilates I did) doesn't have an effect. I've only tried it twice when I was with a youth acting group and boy-oh-boy did it show me how unfit I was.

What's wrong with the Atkin's Diet? They were doing an interview with Dr. Atkin at supper time. He was eating lean steak, broccoli, avacodo, steamed asparigus, and a spinach salad. The problem with the Atkin's Diet is not in the diet itself but in the way people approach it. The Atkin's Diet is about limiting carbs to a reasonable intake and making smart carb choices.

I know this is old but you didnt state any positives about pilates. You just said how certified your trainer was.

That's all the more impressive as he died about 3 years ago after he suffered a heart attack, congestive heart failure and hypertension before falling to his death :)

I think I've known about 5 people who took up the Atkins diet, after a couple of years all of them are fatter than they were when they started. The worst case is a guy who can't touch carbs now or he'll balloon in weight, he's effectively signed up to this rediculous diet for life which gives him headaches, tiredness, aggression and awful breath. He was the one that followed the diet to the letter

Wait a second.... I looked it up. He didn't die from a heart attack! He hit his head and suffered severe head trauma, and later died from a blood clot in his brain from the accident.

EDIT: Wait lol, I read your post wrong. Reading is not one of my major skill.
