WIsh I could post pics, my beasty was supposed to be a border colie cross when I got him at the pound as a puppy but now at 130lbs and over three feet high they say he's a wolfhound cross. Between what the two of us eat in a day I may need another job.

Yikes, I feel your pain though. Brooklyn is 120lbs. And Jaeden is only 42lbs. Between the two....I dont know how I afford much else. Well I have to say I spoil them rotten...they have more collars then I do pairs of jeans. How sad is that?

Here is my dog, Tatum. I figured out how to make her my avatar. She's a 6 year old boxer mix.

alright, that's just a crappy picture! I'll change it tomorrow.

Well, if everyone's posting their dog pics, here's mine... This is my Son three years ago, with my dog, Bear. (Yes, Bear is a 'she'.)

...and here's a pic about six months later, with my Son feeding Bear. Anyone who claims that any breed (Rottweiler) are all dangerous has quite the argument from me!

Bear's now about 120lbs, and just recently went totally blind. She's only about five years old, and lives with my Son and his Mother. It's really quite sad when I go to pick my Son up, and she comes lumbering out without her sight. She's always been the biggest suck, and it breaks my heart to see her like that.

I've been a veterinary tech for years. you're right, people shouldn't generalize about breeds. Is Bear diabetic?

Dogs and cats can be diabetic like humans and are tested by checking blood glucose, like in humans. Your vet can check it in the office. The reason I asked is because almost all dogs we see with diabetes lose their sight within a few years of onset. It can't be helped. Other signs of diabetes in dogs is sudden weight loss even if appetite is good, excessive thirst and urination and lethargy. Sometimes cats can be treated by modifying diet alone, but diabetic dogs need insulin twice a day.

Hmm, I'll check into that. I know Bear hasn't lost any weight... In fact, she's bigger than she's ever been. Good info to know, thanks!
