Want to Get Back to My Best

Hi Guys,

I am a newbie and its my first time doing anything like this. I do not like to discuss my weight and even hide my true weight from people closest to me but I have been told that talking somewhat anonymously on here can be a really useful tool.

I am a 27 year old guy, 6ft4' and weigh around 114kg. I am and have always been a naturally big guy (wide shoulders, big head etc!!) but have always used this as an excuse not to lose weight.

But I now have a bigger belly and just generally feel unhappy with the way i look.

At my heaviest 3 years ago, I weighed close to 120kg. When I broke up with an ex-girlfriend, I got very motivated, bought some cheap gym equipment for my home and got down to about 104kg.

But now I am back up in weight and closing in on being an unhappy, fat person again.

I found it quite easy 3 years ago to focus and lose the weight but find it hard to motivate myself now, especially as over the past 2 weeks, I have been eating well, not drinking alcohol and working out 4 days a week and haven't really shifted any weight.

Any advice or words of encouragement would be much appreciated. I will keep an update of my weight on this thread as it will hopefully motivate me to work harder if I have lots of eyes checking my weight :)

Thanks!

Matt

Welcome to the forum! I think you will find it helpful. It is frustrating to make positive changes and not see results as quickly as you'd like but you can be sure if you continue with your plan you will succeed - it's just a matter of science. You're still young but your metabolism may have slowed a bit in those three years since your last shape up so just keep going and you will build muscle and rev it up again. Eating well and eating less are not necessarily the same thing - you may want to do some calorie tracking.

Thanks for the kind words Aloe.

To an extent I track my calories but the difficulty I have is that a divide my exercise between weights and cardio so don't really know where my calorie deficit should fall. I know that if you don't consume enough, then muscle won't build but I also want to be careful that I don't eat too much.

Trying to find that balance is what I am finding a challenge!
