Waking up and smelling the coffee.

Hi everyone! My name is Jennifer. I am from Tallahassee Florida. I am 29 and the mother of three beautiful girls. It has taken a toll on my body. I am on here to get support to start losing weight. I have done several diets through out the years and I am tired of being overwieight. I am waking up and smelling the coffee. My husband and I are going on a week long trip soon (end of Feb) and I would like to lose weight and look better when we go. I have always been thin until I started having kids. I am 5 1" and weigh (I hate to say) 195 pounds :( . I recently lost some weight. I did weigh 209 :) . Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forums. There is tons of help on here. I would suggest keeping a tally of your calorie intake and exercise, and posting up in a Diary. That has helped me alot. And Good Luck!

Welcome aboard I hope that we can help you, we'll certainly give you support, but ultimately its up to you to put things into action..search for clean diet and check out the cardio routines that some members are doing.. good luck! glad you woke up:)

I never lost my pregnancy weight, I'm 5'3" and weight about 111-116 depending on the day/time....i was 108 before (two pregnancies, kept about 5 lbs each).

The important thing is to work towards your goal; eat healthy and exercise. Not all of us are meant to be skinny.......

Hi Jennifer! Welcome to the forum. No doubt you will get all the help you need as well as motivation in this forum.

Welcome Jennifer. I'm sure you will get a lot of helpful advice here as long as you are willing to put in the work :) . If you are just beginning to workout, remember whatever activity you decide to do, start slowly, don't try to break any records. Also try to get in the habit of eating smaller healthy meals every 2-3 hours and drinks plenty of water. I guess that would be some kind of starting point for you. Best of luck in reaching your goals.

This is a good place to start, but it may take a bit more than just this. If you've gotten to almost 200 pounds there are some habits that you have formed as well some comprimises to your health. Start with a good physician and go from there.

Get moving

Welcome! Congratulations in your first step of getting healthy...the understanding that you need to start. The American College of Sports Medicine makes certain recommendations regarding exercise testing and training for overweight persons. Start out at small initial workloads with small increases in increments to get your body ready exert itself further. The primary mode of exercise should target your large muscle groups. Aerobics, jogging, or incline walking are all excellent modes of exercise. You should start out training 5 to 7 days/week for about 45 to 60 minutes each time. Again, start out at a moderate intensity where you don't feel much (if any) fatigue or disconfort. Then slowly increase your intensity as your body allows. You'll be suprised how fast the body can adapt to workload changes. However, in addition to implementing an exercise program into your lifestyle, you also need to take your nutritional intake into account. The ACSM states that one of the keys to weight loss is providing a negative energy balance of 500 to 1000 kcal /day, resultig in a gradual weight loss of .5 to 1 kg/week. This may seem daunting, but by cutting out soft drinks, desserts after each meal, and second servings, this can be accomplished without too much distress. Keep up the motivation, you can do it! :)

hi jen welcome aboard i agree with everyones advice mate although i'd like to add to remember to keep all your diet and weight loss efforts in moderation, try not to set short term goals as this will hopefully be a long term effort from you, pace youself dont train yourself stupid as this will probably put you off, other than that good luck
