Vertical Jump

Hello,
I am a 14yr old guy. I play basketball. I am 5'7 (short for basketball). I'll be a sophmore next year and i want to kincrease my vertical jump. Currently i squat 320lbs and my vertical is 25 inches. My parents say they dont want me lifting heavy weights for my legs because it will stunt my growth. How true is this? And what are some exercises for increasing my vertical, thanks for any suggestions

I started weight training in year 9, aged 15, and I am 195cm. I am not sure how much it slows down your bone growth, but I wouldnt recommend heavy weights for people under 17 as they will most certinley learn incorrect technique and may injure themselves. By about 17 you have enough natural strength and testosterone (and the presence of mind) to do weights corrrectly.

In the meantime, I recommend plyometrics, and lots of stretching. You will have to search or buy a book to get some decent plyometric exercises.
