Sport Vegetarian Diet Help

Sport Fitness
Hey guys I'm a freshmen in college trying to lose weight (~10-15 lbs) and I lift everyday but I've decided I should probably change up my diet. I've tried this before but it's always hard because I'm a vegetarian and all the good proteins are always meat or fish.

Well I was just curious if there are any other vegetarians on the board or any information devoted to this question.

I was also wondering if I should be drinking protein and if so what kind and what kind of post work out meal I should have.

Thank you for any help.

Hi there,

I get most of my protein from beans, lentils, nuts, tofu, egg whites, non-GMO soy protein powder and some low-fat cheese. (not sure if you eat cheese & eggs) I add the pp to my steel cut oatmeal and smoothies. I eat some fake meat products but not many as they are super processed and usually loaded with sodium.

Try searching google for vegan or vegetarian fitness and you will find loads of ideas on increasing your protein. It does take some planning and effort but it can be done! :)

I can understand your frustrations with being a vegetarian because sometimes it just feels like there is no other option but meat! Don't worry, there are many options, but like Threesideddice said: it just takes planning and careful planning that is. Try looking up reciped on the internet, or through cookbooks around the house. I know personally, I get most of my protein from nuts, peanut butter, hummus, lentils, beans, etc...there are more and more options these days. Sometimes i even take protein drinks because they do provide the protein i need in an easy and delicious way.
