vasectomy

I'm going in at 3 to take my valium and get snipped. For those of you that have had a vasectomy, how long until you were back lifting? I asked my doc about his guidelines and he said 10 days to 2 weeks should be sufficient time to get back in and start lifting heavy.

The thought of being out of soccer, lifting, throwing for almost 2 weeks is a terrifying thought.

Getting snipped isn't a terrifying thought? I'm sorry, but I need to ask. Why are you getting a vasectomy?

Because I don't want anymore children. It's not really a terrifying thought. I don't think I can count the number of people I have met that have had a vasectomy. I have heard of only one case of complications. The doctor I'm using has been a surgeon for 17 years and he comes highly recommended specifically for vasectomies.

It's a small cut and 20 minutes later you're done.

The thought of having any more children depresses me.

It took me 11 days and mine was more painful than most. They had trouble getting to one of the tubes so they had to "root around" more than usual. If that's the case they will already know to expect that from your exam. On the bright side, I got to be asleep because of this.

Some people feel like a million bucks in a couple days

All in all its not too bad...and that's coming from a total wimp when it comes to doctors

The doc did an initial exam and said everything should go very easy.

I've already told my girlfriend I'm never having the snip, she can have her tubes tied if she's that against having more kids :)

This was discussed. However, the procedure of getting a vasectomy is low-risk and quick. Getting tubes tied involves envasive surgery where they cut you open, remove some organs to get to the tubes, etc. There's a high risk for hemorrage, infection, death, etc. So I couldn't see putting my wife's life in danger.

I'm fertile enough that my woman gets pregnant by my looking at her. :yelrotflmao: And I hate wearing condoms, hate having her take birth control and flooding her body with hormones, and really dislike the pull-out method or guessing when she's ovulating method.

She also miscarries very easy. Out of the 6 times she's been pregnant, she's miscarried 4. I will say that if anymore of those had been successful, I'd have had this procedure done a long time ago.

I wasn't stressed out about this. But she did come back from the store last night with a couple cases of beer and was like, "I know you're stressed out honey. So I brought you enough beer where you can sit on the couch, watch TV, and drink beer. I realized I loved her right then. ;)

LMAO, you sound like me, we've only had unprotected sex 3 times and she's got pregnant 3 times* :)
We had a miscarriage too and that's so bad we almost didn't try again

Good luck with the op mate and enjoy the beer :beerchug:

EDIT * All 3 unplanned - That's because the 'pulling out' method doesn't work :)

In case the doc didn't already give you this tip: Wear some compression shorts or even a jock for a few days afterwards. You won't appreciate any movement down there

you'll want some bags of frozen peas or corn to put on the area afterwards. that way they aren't insanely cold, and conform nicely to the area.

I don't know much about the procedure. I saw an episode of Home Improvement that dealt with this :) Basically what came out of it is the benefit of being low risk(compared to the woman's procedure). Good Luck!

You will be okay. Some minor discomfort.

Mine turned black when I had it done about 10 years ago.

My wife didnt cut me any slack.

"Get the hell up, its not like your squeezing out a baby, for petes sakes!" LOL. Damn she can be a hard ass.

When my first child was born, and when the doctor smacked him on the ass, he never shut up. I knew then, I needed to get this done. :)

Any hoot.......you will be fine.

Best wishes,

Chillen

I don't know if it's been said yet, but I suggest you go to the bank and deposit before you go ahead with this. You might not want any more kids now, but someday, you never know, and it's always nice to go back on that option.

chillen - That's pretty funny. Did you tell your son that? :p

I wish more men would have this procedure. I think it would make things so much easier. I know so many men who are positive they don't ever want kids but still haven't gotten this done. Also, as Dallen brought up, you could always save some of your juice on the side just in case you do want to pass along your genes. Not such an issue with evo though since he already has kids.

just because it is possible and convenient doesn't mean men who don't want kids should do it.
