Weight-Loss Valentine's Day Challenge

Hello all!

I'm quite new here - Registered an account yesterday. I wrote my story in the newcomer sub-forum for those who are interested to read.

I decided to go ahead and open a new challenge on here that will lead us to Valentine's Day. So that should give us around a month and a half.

Who's in? I AM! :)

So...

Age: 24 years
BMI: 30.8
Height: 5 feet 2 inches
Weight: 76.5kgs - 168.54 pounds

I suffer from Hypothyroidism so my weight loss is very very slow. I'm going to aim for at least a 4-pound loss by the end of this challenge. I also want to start doing Zumba again at least once a week.

Those who want to take measurements and follow that loss rather than weight loss, can do so too.

What are your goals?

I am committing myself to stay accountable, to help motivate others and stay motivated myself. I will post here daily. I will try to influence others as much as possible with my positivity in this journey.

Let's do this, guys and gals. Let's shed some pounds, shall we?

This is the first official day I'm in control again so I'm happy about how it's going so far.

I have eaten around 750 calories and it's 1.18pm.

Now, one of my major weakness is having a packet of crisps (or 2!) after I have a meal. What I did today:

~After I finished my chicken wrap at lunch time, I stayed sitting at the table rather than, on auto-pilot, get up and reach for a packet of crisps without thinking... I stayed sitting at the dining table...And tried to "connect" to my stomach. After like a minute or 2, it got me convinced that I've had ENOUGH. I was SATISFIED. It did it for me :D I got up from the table, washed my plate, and BRUSHED MY TEETH!

Usually, when I brush my teeth, I won't reach out for more food so it worked! All these tips worked in 2009 ... I am getting them out of my "pocket" again and putting them into practice...

I'd love to hear how you fight against your weaknesses... We all have some, right?
 
I'd love to join your challenge, but I really have no idea what a realistic goal would be for me. I've never dieted before in my life, and I've only been dieting for seven or so weeks, so I don't know what to expect.
 
I'm in! I would like to lose half a stone by then, that's what 7-8lbs? Any of you guys on tithe iPhone app "my fitness pal?" It's great for storing what you are eating and we can add each other to remind us to fill it in? My names loulou2986, would be nice to have the push?
 
I won't be continuing my journey here as I'm going to focus on another website .I'm sorry but I'd like to wish you the very best... xxx
 
Well I really LOVE Valentine's Day and would like to join this challenge although the OP is gone. Maybe I will join Korrie's challenge as well. I would like to lose 15lbs by Valentine's Day. I will weigh in weekly on Thursday to line up with Valentine's Day. I weighed in today, so I will not weigh in again until the 10th.

People will certainly get much more support in Korrie's challenge. I strongly recommend that everyone joins that challenge...

If anyone wants a challenge here in addition to that we can certainly run one... I guess that it has the benefit of starting straight away and can be very flexible in style...

Its a shame that the OP disappeared as she mentioned zumba - and I love zumba... I did a hardcore zumba class last night and it was great...
 
That is so great you had a loss Omega!! Yeah, sux that the OP disappeared, but at least she left us a good thread to take over :reddevil: mwahahahaha!
Zumba! OMG I love zumba. The gym I used to go to had zumba on Saturday mornings. I really love to dance in general and am pretty good at it although I am so fat lol.

Going to check out Korrie's challenge now.

If anyone else reads this - although the teams are set - I'll bet that I can get Korrie to expand the teams if new people want to join in over the next week... there are ways of apportioning points in challenges so that teams can be different sizes...

I love to salsa and to zumba... I have a salsa lesson and a hardcore zumba class tomorrow morning...

Do you do zumba in the house? I do. I play all my favourite tracks on you tube and dance the steps that we do at our zumba classes...

Do you know the names of your favourite tracks?

My record is going to five zumba classes in a week... LOL I'm totally addicted.
 
I went to salsa and zumba this morning and my legs are now really tired...

My weight is coming down nicely - so I have updated my ticker... It is nice to see my new ticker move down...
 
LOL not so good to see my ticker going up today... I had a good day yesterday but went high sodium... the result - a 1.4 pound gain...

I had better try to have some extra water today...

Sorry Omega! School started again this week and I've been busy sorting things out. I am able to come and read sometimes but haven't been able to reply. I think I'm going to change my weigh in dates to Friday in light of Korrie's challenge. I like salsa and listen to a lot of reggeton too. My favorite tracks are Ella y Yo by Don Omar and Aventura and Han Cogido la Cosa by Grupo Niche. I also like Elvis Crespo, Suavemente and Sonrisa. Sorry to hear about your gain there, but I'm sure it's water + NaCl :)

Well done! You did great.

I got down to 161.0.

I didn't lose as much as I would have liked - but all in all I was pretty pleased with what I got.

Some people on the forum may appear to manage to lose more than we managed - which can be discouraging for those of us that take a little longer to get there - but the bottom line is that if we filled a shopping bag with 6.4 pounds worth of shopping we would soon complain if we were expected to carry it about all day.
