Sport v8 vegetable juice

hey i recently started liking and drinking v8 original vegetable juice. it says one cup is 2 servings of your daily veggie annoucement. is it OK to drink a lot of this stuff? is it really a good substitute-could i drink 5 cups/day? (10servings/day is what the government calls for)

You're better off eating vegetables than drinking them. Some nutrients get lost in the juicing process. So, drinking 5 servings of V8 a day is not ideal, but getting there. If you have trouble eating 10 servings a day, I would recommend supplementing by drinking a few servings each day.

you might want to just look at the sodium content of that drink.

There was a thread about this going yesterday. Your best bet is to just eat fresh veggies. If you don't like them, learn to.

The almighty Kraken Speaks! :)

I agree nothing replaces eating raw (or cooked) vegetables. However, given the low calorie content, I would choose a low sodium version; and personally believe there is abolutely nothing wrong with consuming "some" V-8 once in a while.

the sodium is definitely high in plain V8 but I used to drink some other kind of V8 that had a serving of fruit and vegetables in it some had sugar but there was one that didnt and didnt have a lot of sodium ,your better off eating fresh veggies but if your gonna drink them as a supplement there are better ways

you can't beat steamed veggies with some garlic pepper and a bit of olive oil.

You have to get creative and it will taste better. I used to hate brocolli but now I eat the **** out of it. We picked up a fresh green bean mixture last night too I can't wait to try it. I can eat those things right off the plant.

Am I allowed? I am a heteralsexual.

(No, seriously, I will soon.....I am popping in and out on the board answering questions here and there, while at work, and getting paid for it......he, he)

LOL

story of my life. If I wasn't getting paid I wouldn't be here. I'm popping in between light layouts on a ceiling plan.

Best to think of it as a substitute for high calorie / high sugar beverages (including fruit juices), rather than as a substitute for vegetables. And choose the low sodium variety if you are concerned about that, since the regular variety is high in sodium.

Note that Trader Joe's has a house brand vegetable juice, which also comes in a low sodium variety.
