so sometimes i just dont feel like eating vegies so i was wondering if low sodium v8 is a good alternative.

I drink it. I don't see anything wrong with it.

I drink a V8 most every afternoon as part of my snack.

While V8 is a good PART of a healthy eating plan, you can't drink all your veggies and still get the same benefits.

The thing with V8 is theres no fiber.

The deal with getting enough fruit and veg is that it needs to vary and also needs its fiber to be processed and utilised. One V8 a day could count towards your daily intake but you'd still need 4 other portions which were all different to each other to make your 5-a-day. You can have as many liquid veg/fruit a day as you want, it still only counts as one portion, your body gets rid of the excess and it just doesn't help you aside from the fat soluable things like vitamin A which can end up turning you yellow!

Maybe think about things like cherry tomatos, fresh fruit salads/strawberrys, apple slices (somehow can be more more-ish) having extra chopped vegetables added to things like soups, chilli/bolognaise/other sauces, stir frys...try not to see it as something you have to eat in iscolation but something you eat within another part of a meal. Just make sure its around 80grams and your more likely to be getting a correct portion.

A cup of the low sodium V8 has 1.9 grams of fiber. That's not too shabby.
"Not too shabby" is relative. :)

A cup of cherry tomatoes has over 4g of fiber for 54 cals
A cup of baby carrots has over 5g of fiber for 93 cals
A cup of celery has 2g of fiber, but is also only 10 cals. :)

A cup of V8 has 2g of fiber for 70 cals.

But it's not just the fiber - it's the BULK. The bulk of the veggie. The bulk is what helps maintain digestive health - that fibrous part of the veggie that is left after you digest the nutrients help move things through your intestines.

It's funny to me that a lot of people who are obsessed with the idea of "cleanses" will spend $$$ on pills or drink tons of lemon salt water to do the same thing that eating a diet full of fresh veggies will do .. in a healthier and more nutritious manner. :)

i agree with the whole cleanse thing people cant get ridiculous. Thanks for the post though it helps a lot. Im going to start buying celery and tomatoes for snacks

Eating more fibers is healthy, but if you eat more fibres but the rest of your meals are shit you won't lose weight. Fibers help but they won't lose weight for you.

I replaced most part of my meals with vegetables so i can keep my calories down. Drinking something that is meant to lose the weight for me is not something i'm looking for, i would just raise my calorie intake with no reason.
