uphill vs distance

Hi there

Just had a quick question in regards to the best type of cycling for me.

I am trying to build up the strength in my legs and i usually cycle around my local park for 2 laps every weekend.
The total distance is about 10km for the cycle ride.

Now the question is, if i change this and instead cycle for a shorter distance, but include lots of uphill cycling effort, is this better for my leg strength ? I guess its more resistance.

I did this at the weekend, and i was more sweaty after 20 mins cycling than my usual 35 min ride.

By the way, I get plenty of cardio during the week where i ride on my spin bike for 12k every week.

Would be great to hear what you think ?

Cheers

If you're wanting to increase leg strength over endurance, I would recommend cycling with hills and inclines incorporated... =)

thanks for the response trainer01

i guess it was an obviuos question ! I am making sure that on my exercise bike i am using it more for resistance over a shorter time rather than light resistance over a long period...

thanks
