Weight-Loss Unsweetened Ice Tea

Weight-Loss
Hey everyone. I'm trying to cut down on my consumption of diet pop. I drink a lot of water through out the day (especially while working out), but get bored of it easily and many times would rather just sit there thirsty than drink more water.

I really like unsweetened ice tea, and apparently it has no calories. I've looked everywhere in the grocery store though and cannot seem to find it anywhere. I could only find a 6 pack of Lipton PureLeaf Unsweetened Iced Tea in 16 oz glass bottles. It was almost $7! I couldn't even seem to find any mix or anything that was unsweetened.

At work we have Unsweetened Brisk on fountain so it must be out there somewhere! Does anyone have any suggestions for me??

make your own unsweetened iced tea...

teabags, kettle to boil wwater
container to store it in

and you can get any flavored tea you like - the celestial seasonings make really nice iced teasa

I buy these little packs of green tea powder, it's lipton green tea to go. it has no calories *shrugs* You just pour it in your water and shake.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I will probably try to brew some pretty soon. I just need to get to the store. Is Celestial Seasonings a brand of tea??

Also I think I saw those green tea packets, or some sort of packets. I thought the one's I saw though had calories?? I'll have to check it out though!

celestial seasononings is a brand of tea sold in most grocery stores and even drug stores - they have a lot of herbal teas but not all arae caffeine free - so do read the labels.. they've got some really great flavors that they come out with seasonally - like gingerbread in the winter - and blueberry green tea in the summer... really all sorts of nice flavors...

4C/Crystal Lite/Lipton all make packets that you can dump into a bottle of water - some of them have artifical sweeteners though...

Brewing tea is really easy ... In a 1/2 gallon container -i'll drop 8 tea bags - then fill the container 1/2 up with boiling water... and let it steep for about 15 minutes... remove the tea bags (saving two for yrour eyes.. cooled teabags are great for your eyes) and fill the container up with cold water.

Store in fridge...

Try Revolution Green Tea. Their Tropical Bend is the best green tea i've even had. Its way better than Celestial Seasonings. Its somewhat expensive and rare, but worth it.

GymChica,

Idk if this information helps you at this point, but I LOVE to drink fresh brewed ICED TEA whil I work out!

1st of all, if you take any sort of thermogenic (like from GNC) it has caffeine in it. Iced tea from home is natural caffeine. I buy either Lipton or store brand tea bags and bring a large pot of water to a boil. Then, steep 6 tea bags in there for about an hour. - you can like tie the strings together and hang it over the pot- i put the lid on it. Then, I start pouring into pitchers. I usually boil 2-3 pots of it at a time, and try to keep between 3-4 pitchers in my fridge. I drink it all day, and while I work out everyday. The natural caffeine helps give a natural energy boost (as I put it). I work out sometimes twice a day. It also helps to shed pounds of fat like crazy! I don't know why or how but it does. Finally, don't add sugar. This is when you get unnecessary calories - and if you do, the results I am describing will not happen. Good luck!

I've been doing the exact same thing, brewing tea at home instead of drinking sodas. I just buy a box of Lipton tea, I think it's like $4 for 100 tea bags. Then I add a little Splenda if I want some sweetness.

Boiling results in a bitter tea. Try just hot tap water. Its what I use to make mine. 3 bags for 1 gallon of tea. I fill the jug with a half gallon of hot tap water, 3 tea bags, and let it sit till room temp. Fill the remaining half with water and enjoy. Results in a very nice mild tea. Very similar to Sun Tea made in the midwest.
