Hi everyone! I am trying to understand how to figure out how many calories I should be having a day. From what i understand w/ my height age and wt i should be around 1920cal / day for my resting metabolism.. if i eat less than this and exercise im putting my body in a mode where i wont lose and most likely will feel crapy. Does anyone understand this? Am I on the right track? Ive been tracking my cal for the last few days and i was low at first but now im up to where i should be..im eating alot each day but im trying to make good choices. Any help would be terrific!
thanks

go with like 1800 per day, then excercise will take care of the rest. brown rice, oatmeal, lean meats, salmon, all that stuff is awesome for ya, every morning I make chicken and brown rice and I love it lol. wait a couple weeks at 1800 per day, if you dont lose any weight, then go to 1700, then if your still not losing weight, its probably training or the types of food your eating. keep your eating clean, and youll have very little problems losing the weight. remember marathon not sprint lol

From what I understand .. it looks like that is too little food for my body. I have been told by a dietitian as well as this website i found, shapeup.org that to maintain my weight i need to eat 4100 cal/day...so to lose 1 lb i need to drop 500 cal / lb to lose. She said that 2000 or even 2500 w/ exercise was the best idea...when i hit a plateau she said I will probably need to drop the cal again. According to her and this website, if I eat less than 1900 cal/day and im exercising too..my body will not lose weight but i will lose energy and most likely muscle. Just thought id share..thanks

If your on a calorie deficit your gonna lose muscle pretty much no matter what, it just depends on how much lol. And youll probably be constantly hitting plateaus if you dont cycle your caloric intake. So if you decide to go with 2500, when you hit a plateau, then go to 2000, when you hit a plateau go back up to 2500, and keep on switching. Good luck to ya and make sure you count your water calories lol.

Well..ya know..you're always hearing about something you forgot to count..like ketchup..i would have never thought of it!

OH yeah I know what you mean! Ketchup phew and I love that stuff! I used to LOVE MAYO! I put it on both sides of my sandwiches. Now I don't use it at all on them. And only about a teaspoon in tuna fish. So hey it's an accomplishment no matter how small. Haha!
