Sport Understanding how to resist hunger.

I posted this on another forum - thought I'd share.

I'm new here but feel like I need to give this a shot.

In order to facilitate change you need to understand why changing your habits, your mind and your body is difficult. Your entire health revolves around these three things.

There is a concept in your biology and psychology called Homeostasis.

Homeostasis is there to prevent change. It doesn't want you to change. When you are cold, you shiver. When you are hot you sweat. When you are a drug addict and you quit cold turkey your entire psychology and biology screams at you to take the drugs. The body wants you to remain constant both internally and externally. That is why when you are obese, it is hard to lose weight. And when you are thin, it is hard to gain weight. The mind and body is embedded with this concept in order to protect you. But having evolved with consciousness, we have the ability to override this concept with proper intellect and understanding. The primitive instincts and reactions of the body are good, but your consciousness can choose to make them even better by choosing to change and assist it's own unconsciousness.

This is why it is so hard to change these things. You are not weak or incapable. In fact- this concept is totally normal. You just need to understand it better and the concept of it "being easy" or "being hard" will disappear and you will simply do what you need to do to achieve your goal.

It's not hard my friend, it's just a little voice at the back of your head screaming at you: "I don't want to change!." This is where you get to be conscious about it and say: "**** you, I'm losing weight!"

:D

I will explain something else for you. Not meant as an insult or as a means to get you to agree with me but please read open mindedly and tell me how you feel about this.

As a conscious person embedded with an unconsciousness, would you say that regardless of what you think or feel about it that the facts remain that you are obese and it is causing you to be unhealthy?

Now, knowing this - unless you have some inner or outter conditions (which is totally ok and acceptable) that prevent you from being fit, would you agree loving yourself while being obese is normal? I have been there- I was obese and still am and am actively working on it. But, I still feel this voice inside me, no matter how much I tell myself I'm ok and no matter how much others tell me, it still feels wrong.

I'm going to do something about it, will you?

Habits, the way you think, feel and look are unconsciously controlled at least partially by homeostasis. Without understanding this, there will always be that little voice inside your head screaming at you - now you know what it is, use it, accept it, embrace it and own it. Do what you have to do with it to get what you want.

As for me- my fathers girlfriend is making my weight loss project a living hell with all this good food she is making.

She's evil.
