Sport undereating

Sport Fitness
hi, i have recently developed a problem with eating and im averaging an intake of 900cals a day from 3 meals and a snack. i know this is very low, plus im going to the gym 4 times a week and doing mostly cardio(long bike rides, cross trainer or running) and also weight training twice a week.

am i doing myself alot of harm carrying on like this, ive lost some weight already although i am focusing on becoming fitter(not weight loss anymore). i also eat very healthily with stir frys, veggies and wholemeal carbs.

any comments or advice would be good, thanks

900cals is abysmal. EAT MORE.

what you're doing is putting the body in starvation mode, which means the weight you've been losing is LEAN MUSCLE MASS, not fat. in fact you're probably still storing what you do eat as fat. that's what the body does in starvation mode...burns lean muscle, and stores any available food as fat, so when the food intake does stop and you really starve to death, the body will have more fat stored up to keep you alive.

YOu need to eat at least double your current intake.

You also need to track your calories and weigh your food to see what you're really taking in. give us a fitday link if you're using it, cuz 900cals a day should make you wanna sleep 10 hours a day and still have no energy to do much in the gym.

the crazy thing is i have more energy then ever at the gym. i did notice that i wasnt lifting higher weights as often but i know thats a gradual build up. im not using fit link but i usually do around an hour of cardio, once a week more when i do an endurance bike ride(2hrs, i tke a carb energy drink) and i lift weights twice a week(and use the resistance machines).

i wasnt so worried about the low intake at first as my energy didnt suffer at all so i figured that nothing was wrong buut when i tracked my food to increase healthy foods i calculated my cals and got worried.
