Hi guys, I'm a newbie to this forum. My name's Windrays, also known as Chris to most. It's a pleasure to meet y'all. ![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
Last June, on commencement night for my high school, I weighed 256, which is pretty consistent in regards to the weight problem I've had for most of my formative years. Throughout my freshman year of college, I lost a good deal of excess weight through sheer dieting, but virtually no exercise, save for the good amount of walking needed on my campus. Eventually, I hit a dead end of 200, where I've been for the past two months. Only then did I realize that I also need to go to the gym. Unfortunately, school took precedence, and so my gym visits were few and far, to say the least. Now that I'm home for the summer (I've been out since the eleventh of this month), I've been visiting the Y on a near daily basis, and using the elliptical (from anywhere from twenty to thirty minutes, depending on my energy at the time), followed by twenty to fifty reps on the lifting machines, depending on the machine in question.
I thought I was doing better. As I said before, I've been big my whole life, and I want to get rid of the love handles and extra leg/arm fat, not to mention the breast fat, which I so unlovingly call my 'mantits.'
And then today, my mother informed me, completely randomly, that due to me being big all my life, I might never lose the fat I've gained throughout the years. She speaks from experience, for she's also lost the weight at one point, yet she had a fair amount of 'pudge' (as she refered to it, which isn't a bad term) when all was said and done.
Is she right? Am I doing all this in vain? :-(
Thanks for your help, guys! And if I posted in the wrong forum, I apologize! Feel free to move it at your leisure!
