Ultimate toning workout.

So you have got to the size you want but want to cut the fat down whilst still keeping your muscles toned.

This tabata routine will sort you out.

If you dont allready know Tabata it is done with an interval timer, 20 sec of of as many reps as you can and 10 sec rest, the 10 sec rest though should really be getting ready for the next exercise rather than actually resting. As soon as the beep goes straight into the next exercise.
8 sets of 20/10 secs and 45 sec rest at the end.
Repeat 8 times.
Should take around 40 mins

4 exercises done twice to make the 8 sets

1. Jumping lunges
2. Press ups
3. Bent over row
4. Soulder press

I would use a much lower weight than what you may be used to on the bent over row and shoulder press or you'll never get through the full 8 rounds.

I have had some great results with this routine with myself and with clients, really wakes you up a bit.

If you need an interval timer the Gymboss is great and cheap, buy from ebay.

Let me know how you get on.....

I'm wondering how you can 'tone' with a workout when 'toning' is simply the act of losing weight to reveal the underlying muscle.

Nothing more.

Sounds like you're just regurgitating this week's Redbook workout to me.

The first sentance explains it.

"So you have got to the size you want but want to cut the fat down whilst still keeping your muscles toned."

Its just something to keep your workout interesting and fun.

Tabata is known for hyping up your metabolism because of its interval style structure and this workout will do exactly that and still keep you muscles looking great. Something that running on its own or just straight lifting weights won't do on their own. It's a weights/cardio cross over.
