Ultimate Software for fitness tracking

Hey everyone,

I'm new here, and I'll be posting my introductory post soon, but I had a question.

Do any of you use software to keep track of your fitness/health goals? I haven't been able to find any mac software that I really like, that work really well for me, and let me do the things that I want (like decent graphing!).

Since I'm a software engineer, I'm even thinking about writing one. If you could have the ultimate tool for tracking your fitness/health goals, what features would you like to have? Just curious since I know what I want, but I'm fairly new to all of this.

Thanks!

........eh?

LOL!

I don't really know of any. I am not interested in it either, because you can really just write stuff down on paper and it takes lesss amount of time doing so also.

Good luck though.

;)

I have created mine using excel spreadsheets. From there, I can easily create graphs and charts from my data. I also do this for my clients.

programs are slow, you have to get on the computer every day, usually have to pay.

I have a book and on each left hand page I write my workout, on the right I write my food and at the back I write in all my notes.

you dont really need to get any more complicated than that.

For those of you who may be interested, I just bought Yourself!Fitness for the PS2, and it TOTALLY KICKED MY BUTT.

Wow. What a workout! I can't believe all the features this game has (cardio, upper-body, lower-body, yoga, pilates, meal planning, fitness tests...). Totally worth the price.

Hi Rip,

I'm new here (hi everyone!), I was reading this thread and I was wondering if you would be willing to share your spreadsheet? I am working on one for personal use I wouldn't mind having some new ideas.

I will post it when I get home...

Hi, I'm after the same sort of thing. I don't want something that will tell me what to do like 'Yourself!Fitness' but just something that I can enter details and progress into, like when I train and for how long. What my weight, blood pressure, body fat % and pulse are each day (or week) which can then be shown as a graph.

Some of us preffer to use our PC than a pen and paper... drawing graphs and flicking through books can be a pain you see :)

I also have a PDA. It would be great to have software that would sync with this too. No-one know of anything that can do all this?

**EDIT** This looks interesting, although I was after something a little cheaper really -

Here is my workout worksheet. And, I included a publisher file (if you have MS Publisher) that is a routine to blast your core.

BTW - the Excel file has multiple worksheets (tabs)...

Enjoy,
Rip

I found this one also. I haven't used it but it looks interesting.

Take your notebook at the end of the week or so and enter it onto a spreadsheet. You dont have to do it daily. Charts and graphs are great ways to see improvements and weak spots.

Ditto. Charts ROCK! I use them for measurements too. I add all of my measurements (except waist, since I want it to shrink) and chart that total number. Nice to watch a climbing line graph! MOTIVATION!!!
