Uhhh.... Colon Cleansing?

Is this something that people actually do? I saw it on an infomercial last night, and when I googled it there are about 2 million results!

Anyone have comments on this? Good or Bad? Do people actually do this and does it really help you to be healthier?

The infomercial said that the average person has about 10 pounds on compacted fecal matter and toxins lining their intestine. Ewwww!

Gross, and weird...

I seen a show on it also. I guess it is increasingly popular. I heard the same stats.
Kinda like ear wax, if you go to the "ear doctor" they can remove ear wax for you. I heard it can be an amazing amount.

I did a liquid cleansing once. ONCE. I was running (I am talking about sprinting) to the men's room at work every 30 minutes to literally hold on to the toilet while my "cleansing" was taking place. Runs from Hell for like two days.

If you ride the subway or a bus, you might wanna wear diapers!

Not sure I would ever do it, you are more brave than I. Did you see any benefits from it once your... umm... cleansing was through?

No public transportation for me, but thanks for the advice, lol.

Tony, I go to the ear doctor once a year and it's def. worth it. As gross as it sounds, I have excessive ear wax production that causes the insides of my ears to get very dry, irritated, and extremely itchy. I swear he pulls pounds and pounds of wax outta' my head each time...I'm starting to think my brains are seeping out.

Angel, if you're considering a colon cleansing, get something that is gentle on the system. Rip got one that tore him up. I recommend just doing a whole body cleanse. The one I always recommend is by Yerba Prima. If you know or can find an herbalist, you can do tinctures very cheaply. Or if you live next to a health food store, you can usually find a knowledgable staff that can assist you.

I don't think colon cleansing is necessary for perfectly healthy people. It can be necessary if you have a problem of some sort, or require a medical procedure involving the colon.

Maybe enemas and explosive diahrrea are more fun than they sound, but I highly doubt it. Unless colon cleansing is going to give me superhuman powers, i don't think i want any.

I believe they are selling fear: "GUNK IS BUILDING UP AND EVENTUALLY YOU'LL BE TOTALLY BLOCKED!"

Most people do not need such a thing.

Anyone remember Colon Blow cereal from Saturday Night Live??

i just made a post about colon cleaning, i didn't see this one two post below mine.

This is very true, you do not need to do it to be healthy but it is like taking vitamins, you can still be healthy with out taking vitamin, you can get all your nutrition from foods or drinks but it does help taking the vitamins too.

Your bowels have extra waste stuck to the walls that keeping the body from getting some of the nutrition from foods as they get broken down. It also adds on some extra weight to people trying to lose weight, that bump people get in the lower part of there stomach (at the waist line) can actually decrease from getting out that extra weight. there is more it does for the body but yeah it is not necessary but does help like vitamins.

Fankango;
if you checked the link in my post you've read about the parasite thing in the intestines

well its colon cleansing is not absolutely necessary but it could have long term health benefits and also toxins thrown out of the body is always good

most people who undergo the treatment may not see immediate results but it certainly helps in the long run to prevent any further problems in the long run

toxins are accumulated over the years and the true cumulative effect of all the toxins will only be seen after a age like say 60 to 70 years
so consider eliminating all those toxins and consider its effect during old age

i read this in a book on healing where they advise practioner to undergo a two day fast on any fruit, papaya being the best
and it says that at the end of the fast you'll be sick to the stomach having headaches, fever, nausea etc. the reason being the body toxins being released into the blood which ultimately gets pushed out of the body

i personally believe this whole thing is a scam. the body does not keep "toxins" in large amounts in your intestines - that 10lbs statement is a crock. any surgeon who does work on the intestines will tell you the statements made by the people who sell this stuff are not true. a healthy person does not need this. you will not live longer getting your colon "cleansed".

Well RIP! You will be r.i.p after ive colon cleansed you........lol

Nah i had something wrong with my gut last year and went to a clinic to have it done. Not the most pleasant but it made me feel much better.

i used colonix. it's a powder shake, tea, and probiotics. it wasn't bad at all and tasted pretty good.

you can visit their site to check it out.

i tried it b/c it was supposed to be good for you. i think i did it for about 1 1/2 months and then stopped.
