uhg...gnc lady messing with my head

Ok, after making some threads and reading threads on supplements for months, i decided creatine was right for me. So today i go to gnc and get ready to buy straight creatine monohydrate. The gnc lady asked for my age and i said 17, She said " oh i dont recommend this because for one your not 18 and it may not work and 2. your still young and probably not in the weight room enough for creatine to have the full effect. I was looking at her thinking what the heck? im in the weight room 2 times a day 5 days a week. It got me mad because she was saying all this stuff i wouldnt be able to do and i am doing, like water intake, right time to lift and take supplements. She said that since im only 17 ( only 5 months away from 18! ) I should start out slow with like a base or something. She said i should take some multivitamins and get plenty of water....IM ALREADY DOING THAT!HAVE BEEN FOR ABOUT A YEAR! she also said that creatine would get me banned from the football team because it can show in urine tests even after i told her that like 40% of our team uses creatine and 1. our teams weight trainer recommends it and 2. it legal! she recommended to just take multivitamins and some protine powder. I know protien powder is good but then she topped it off by recommending this protien powder that only had like 8 servings in it and your supposed to take it after every work out.I said this wont last that long and she said it would because you ONLY TAKE IT AFTER WORKOUTS! i was thinking ok...she must think i lift like once a week. I dunno im just kinda fustrated because i feel like she doesn't think im a serious lifter because im only 17. Maybe she is right though and i should just keep taking my multi vitamins tell im 18. What do you think i should do in this type of situation?

LOL Man that's funny.

Are you a serious lifter? If so buy the god damn stuff!! :D It won't hurt you one bit, what was it muscle tech? Gakic? or something?

btw Creatine works for most everyone, very few don't respond. It sure works for this chap and its one of the oldest time tested product on the market.

Another note - if she told you, you were going to get banned using creatine she certainity is up to no good.

Marine.

It has been my experience in GNC's that they do not know their proverbial "ass" from a hole in the ground. She was trying to push their brand of multi's on you.

GO into GNC if you have to, get what you need, and get out.

lol i was just going to wait tell tommorow when she might be off :) and exactly aevans, she kept showing me gnc multivitamins, ...she gave me a book and everything on them

Good luck dude i believe you'll be pleased with creatine but its still no wonder drug but it will make you stronger and most likely add a few pounds of water.

I would not load either. Just start taking 3 to 5grams a day.

Personally i only take it when i train but alot of people take it everyday. Postworkout is a popular approach.

While on the topic, I just got a job @ gnc!! Major discounts lol...

Creatine is great, your current diet will determine how much it helps. People alse suggest taking creatine before you lift, while others say after. I take 3g before and 3g after. Both with carbs.

What have we told you about training twice a day!!!!!!!!
We've already talked about this havn't we?

Dude, for growth I'd deff recomend a basic whey protien. Take creatine as well if you want, but protien is more important.

I dont get why it would show up in your urine. Thats crazy. if you see her again kick her in the neck!

i believe from what i have been told from some very knowledgable ppl that you should take it before you workout. ask ppl that know not just someone at a chain store they know very little if anything it is jusst a job for them.

Acctually Jenn, If you cast your mind back to a creatine topic a few weeks back they were discussing how you should not take it beofre a workout.

This is due to the fact that your body only will only use creatine when there is a need for it. However, I take creatine right before my workout so its avalible to my body as soon as the need is there. I also take some after and a small amount before bed (if my workout was during the day)
I take 50% before, 30% after and 20% later on.

Only on days I have sore muscles. (everyday)

Im not sure about this cycle thing that ppl talk about. But just to be safe I have 1 month off after 2months on.

good to know. i just know what i've been told, i know you want to take it before working out but didn't really know the other things you've pointed out. i don't take it and prob never will its just in me to pound down artifical stuff to look good i prefer the more natural approach and it has served me well so far. for my needs any way. thanks manofkent for pointing it out the right way.

haha this reminds me of when i went into GNC to buy some weight gainer. The lady started asking me all these questions like if i knew what i was doing. I answered back quickly with all the right answers, then she started saying stuff and i kept proving her wrong haha.

Ha.
about 2yrs ago when i started I was pretty skiny. I took a tub of protien to the till and she said
"this product is for body builders and weight lifters"
I said That I was starting out and she directed me to the glucose drinks. I wasnt interested and got the protien any way. 6weeks later I went back and she said
"wow, I should get my husband some of that stuff".
I Kicked her in the neck and ran out the shop with a whole box of Nicorette.

gotta love highschool football! well before you look into any supps, you should first look at your diet. are you getting enough protein? carbs? fats? or Kcal in general? If you're not getting enough protein in your diet natrually, then look into whey powder.. Training twice a day you should be eating like a mad man.. Are you taking a multi? If so then maybe look into creatine...

seriously.. kick her in the neck... >_<!!
