Sport Ugh!!! heat = burning more calories??

Sport Fitness
I went to busch gardens yesterday with a guy that asked me out (he drove me nuts, decided i will NOT go out again! LOL) but it must have been 100 degrees there. I ate a good breakfast, had a step class to do that morning before i left, and i ate a good lunch. so we walked around the stupid hilly HOT park for about 8 hours. I drank tons and tons of water and had a energy bar that I had brought with me, wasnt sure anything else that I could bring that wouldnt spoil in that heat. or melt for that matter!! Well for dinner, he insisted that he wanted freakin french fries, so we went to eat at a place that all they had was gross greasy food, except for these turkey and ham wraps. so I ate half of one of those ( they were really big), and I took the cheese off because it was gross. Well normally I would have been fine just eating that, and just having maybe a piece of fruit when I got home, but for whatever reason, by the time I got home that night I was light headed and dizzy, with a splitting headache. I get low blood sugar if I dont eat right, so I ate an apple, and felt a bit better, but then I just got super hungry instead of just feeling ill. So I ate a whole wheat pita with a tablespoon peanut butter on it, and felt wonderful after that. So I guess my 2 questions are, does walking around in the heat cause you to burn alot more calories that usual? im pretty active and I have never felt that bad before, and also, does anyone have any ideas of snacks to carry in your purse when its so hot outside, that wont spoil?? thanks!!!!

Glad you ate :) Definitely sounds like like a low blood sugar situation. You can carry around hard candy, buy lemonade, etc. You may have been so low on blood sugar that the half a pita wasn't enough to bring you back to normal for long.

thanks for taking the time to answer lynn:) i used to get like that in the mornings when I didnt eat breakfast. that is the first time I have felt like that in a while.. will definatly try to bring a few pieces of hard candy if I go back there again. Hopefully not soon, wayyy too hot outside!

I think it's the opposite. Although you might lose more weight in the form of water by being in high heat, you should burn more fat in colder temperatures as your body struggles to maintain it's body temperature.

Could be wrong, though. I remember my health teacher telling me this, but she also said that eating the fatty, rubbery parts of steak will help you lost fat (she gave some boot explanation for this)
