Trying to shed stomach.

Hello. I'm 17, and have never really been overweight as I've played hockey most of my life. About 3 years or so ago, I stopped playing, kept eating how I was, and gained some weight. Last May, I weighed myself at 185 (I'm 5'9). At that time I became disgusted at myself, and I cut out regular soda, fast food, sweets, and snack foods except for the occasional slice of birthday cake. I walk 1-2 miles uphill daily. Two weeks ago I went to the doctor and weighed in at 155.

I lost a lot of my "spare tire", but it's still there, and very annoying. I can't tell if it's fat or just streched skin. Do I need to reduce my body fat more, focus on toning my stomach area, or a combination of both. In addition to sit ups, what other exercises should I do to eliminate love handles and this semi stomach I have, and how much of them should I do?

Since of your age I'm gonna say that it's probably just some extra fat still there and not skin. I would recommend do a combination of both and made do a variety of things because your body will adjust and then your workouts will not be as effective as they were before. Also you cannt lose fat from just one place so make sure you are working out your entire body as well as your abs and that will probably promote even more fat loss for you. Good luck at getting rid of that last part.

You should look into "shock" methods to break through the plateau/adaptation that you have encountered in your workout schedule. Things like changing up your rep/set schemes, or adding compound sets, cut down the rest time between exercises, etc. I would reccommened lowering calorie intake daily, increase lean protein intake, eat 5-6 small meals in your day approx. every 3hrs eat a small meal. But dont forget, that does not mean you eat more, you just eat more often while keeping calorie intake the same.
