Hey, I'm a 17 year old female (for now) and I have been trying to trim up since september, because I plan on getting a sex change and need to be in the best shape I possibly can to get the right results. However, I havent been getting any results visually and I have gained 20 pounds.
My workout consists of:
everynight:
Half hour on treadmill: 10 mins up hill then 20 leveled
Hip hop abs half hour
P90x classic workout 1 hour- 1 and a half
every few days:
Bouldering (wal climbing) 3 hours
grade 12 gym class 1 hour

I have cut out sodas, chocolates, candy and chips from my diet and yet I seem to be gaining weight, which I am sure you can understand is frustrating beyond beleif. Not only do I NEED to be in shape, but my grad is comming up and I'd much rather not be this dumpy and curvy when May rolls around.

Help please?

Hmmm, cuting out junk food is a great way to get rid of sugar, but what about your carb and fat intake? Do you eat a lot of bread, pasta, or fatty meat and food? Try cutting a good bulk of this out and eat lean meat and green veggies!

Your workout seem pretty good to me, but maybe you should incorperate more weight training? It will help you achieve your masculine figure and is a faster way to loose fat than cardio. Try total body resistance workouts and not just lifting weights. P90X should also help with this so keep that up!

Now the 20 lbs you gained could be a mixture of muscle gain and water weight or the majority of it could just be water weight (Idk how much you currently weigh, but if its over 200lbs its totally possible to have 16-18 lbs of water weight) especially since as of now you're still a female and the female menstrel cycle can cause you to bloat up! I find it hard to belive you've gained 20 lbs of fat while being as active as you are! So keep track of your water intake (8 8oz of water a day or more) and try to aviod high sodium foods.

I hope I help a bit! And good luck on your journey!

Bottom line is that it's all about how much you eat. It's possible to eat too much healthy food and still gain weight.

I'd suggest registering for a free account at fitday.com or thedailyplate.com and logging your food. You can see how many calories you're getting and how your nutrition is falling out ... and it'll help you figure out if you need to cut back or make changes to get more balanced nutrition.

Other than that, it's hard to give specific advice w/out knowing more details. How tall are you. How much do you weigh now. How long have you been working out. Etc. Give us more info and we can probably provide better info.

I agree with the two previous replies...

what you eat and how much you eat is more important than the exercise...

really take the time to measure your food and think before you eat.

Writing your food intake daily will also help since you will then realized how much you ate all day.
