Hello weight-loss.fitness.com users. I wouldn't be surprised if you've had a thread similar to this 100x now but I'm in need of some help.

Just for reference, I'm 19, 6' 0", and 100kg - mostly if not all fat haha. I'm shooting to be 70kg with under 10% body fat within two years.

I was always slightly large (except during my main growth spurts from 12-14) and I always thought I'd get rid of it one day. I'd play football regularly and hit the gym quite often (working exclusively on my arms for some reason, I really don't know why) so my health wasn't really a problem. My semi-active lifestyle seemed to regulate some of the drawbacks of being fat. Lately, though, I've neglected anything proactive. Recently, it had gotten so bad that I got day-after cramps from a 3-minute walk! My self-esteem has also seen similar effects. I find it hard to keep a conversation going and I feel genuinely embarrassed when showing my face in public. Today I've made the decision to finally work to lose all the fat I've gained over the years and to finally get some confidence back.

I'm a complete newbie so if anyone could give me any pointers/websites/workouts that would work the best in my situation I would be eternally grateful.

I hope to be a familiar face around here!

Hi, Thorfin & welcome to the forum. Your diet is the most important thing when you want to lose weight. Have a look at some of the sticky threads at the top of this section, including this one- https://weight-loss.fitness.com/threads/where-to-start-what-to-do.8354/
If you feel like it come over to the diary section where you will get lots of support. Providing some of this info will help others help you- https://weight-loss.fitness.com/threads/welcome-to-the-journals-diaries-at-wlf.16575/
You'll find where to start a diary at https://weight-loss.fitness.com/forums/weight-loss-diary.9/
Cheers, Cate.

Will do, thanks a lot

Remember when most people say they are 10% bodyfat they are closer to 15%. The 12-15% range is very healthy, and 12% is ripped IE a 6 pack. Anything less then 8% is not healthy and incredibly hard to maintain even for incredibly motivated people with amazing genetics.

A better Long term goal is to get to a true 15%, set short term goals and do not put too much energy in the long term goals.

Just my 2 cents.

Hi, Thorfin! Welcome to the site. :)
There's lots of people here who can give useful advice, and also quite a few men of around your age, some lighter than you, some heavier, wanting to lose weight and get into shape. Have a look around - maybe here where people introduce themselves,or in the diary section - and I think you should be able to find some of them! :)
