Hi all,

I really dont enjoy exercise but I know I ought to do some. I do go walking reasonably regularly but not particularly fast. I've tried aqua areobics and badminton and dont hate either of them. BUT, I dont really like them enough to do them regularly either... So, I dont know what to do...Any ideas please....really need to find something that works for me!

Cheers!

There are lots of different exercises you can do, you probably just need to experiment some more.
First, you should decide if you want to go the sport route, the fun route, or the traditional exercise route. That is, do you enjoy more sport activities? Maybe team activities? that could be soccer, basketball, athletics, tennis, etc
Or do you prefer doing something that so enjoyablefor you that burning calories and getting fit is a bonus? That could be dancing, rollerblading, biking, hiking, swimming...
Or of course you could do the traditional type of exercise people do to lose weight: run on the treadmill, lift weights, take a spinning class, do step aerobics. But if you don't like to exercise this will probably be the last option you'd go for, right? ;)

Once you've decided based on the above, you can just select an activity and try doing it for at least 3 weeks, 3 times a week. After that you can decide if you want to keep going or move on to the next thing. It takes getting used to, body wise and also as far as forming a new habit goes, so you need to be patient and give things a fair try, unless you absolutely HATE it from the beginning (i.e. you find it boring).

Good luck! :)

I get bored easily, so I do a mix of different exercises: walking, jogging, eplitical machines, bicycling, rowing....the possibilities are endless.

Try changing it up every week, that may help.

One suggestion for walking that a lot of people enjoy is find a partner to go walking with! Or, you could try bringing a radio/MP3 player along.

Sports are a good option too. Racquetball, tennis, basketball, can all be fun and are good cardio activities.
