trying to bulk up, what should i take?

i got some suggestions of what to start eating/ a work out routine

Grocery List - iTransforum.com grocery list

Testosterone Nation - Total-Body Training full body workout
thx to brahma for the advice btw.

from what i understand, i should be eating small portions 5-8 times a day of things on this grocery list... will this list bulk me up or is it more, getting me to a healthy place?

i've saw people speaking of "legal sterioids" and "creatine". do they really make a difference? are they safe? and if so, when should they be taken etc.

are prot shakes good for bulking up?

oh man, its just so much to obsorb, just starting out.

any advice/comments are greatly appreciated.

Look man. Bulking up is merely a function of being in a postive energy balance, using a proper resistance training program, and allowing proper rest.

You don't need supplements to bulk. Many people add protein shakes to the list because you need protein every few hours and protein shakes are very efficient. However, if you could fit in 6 whole food meals into your days, that would be better than protein shakes.

T-nation has some great resistance training routines, so I don't think you will go wrong there.

Lastly, your primary concern should be remaining in a caloric surplus. And it is not as easy as just picking foods on that list. You should combine foods. Most of your meals should be balanced in regards to the macronutrients (proteins, fats, carbs) I would start using fitday.com if I were you.

Many are going to tell you to start practicing nutrient timing, meaning eating certain nutrients at certain times of the day. However, until you get a balanced eating plan down, I would not worry about this yet.

Agreed with strout, the only thing you need to be concerned about right now, in additiong to a solid routine (which TBT is in my opinion), is food, and a lot of it. Even though you are bulking, you still can't be eating everything you see, that list LV made is a great place to start and go from there. Develop a plan of attack and keep us posted.
