I wondering if anyone allowed themselves one treat per week and, if so, what kinds of things do you consider treats?

I have a treat daily - I just work it into my calorie range.

some of my treats are
hershey's dark chocolate truffle kisses
Skinny Cow ice cream sammiches
Strawberries dipped in chocolate chocolate pudding (odd, I never used to like chcolate before I made my lifestyle change becaue I thought it was bad for me)
A glass of good red wine
Good cheese w/ fresh bread

There's nothing I won't allow myself = I just make if fit

PLus my daily treat of peaking at Steve's Pictures :D

Alan Aragon said it best, "Avoid food avoidance." You may not know who he is, but his point hits home. Once we start removing things we love, we get upset. However Im not saying this means eat whatever you want, but once in awhile, its good to treat yourself.

Every now and then I will get a pastry (sp?) I usually only buy one, maybe a pack of 2 if thats all they have, some week il have none at all. Ive had no luck finding out what the calories are in them though since Tescos bake them themselves!

I wonder how many calories comprise me? Hmmm

:p

My take on treats:

Sanity comes before progress. What fun is progress if you aren't happy? I eat treats whenever I want them. However, when I am dieting down, I will be more mathematical about them. Meaning, I will account for them and plan for them.

Mal is right. In reality, as long as they are structured into your caloric goals, they won't effect your weight.

When fine tuning a physique with regards to very lean levels, things get a little bit more "sticky."

Alan is the freaking man.

I have something yummy everyday ,

My newest fav is Skinny cow cones ( they're like kings cones with the chocolate covered cone and the hunk of choclate at the bottom of the cone) only 150 calories each Yummy.

I work in an office of folks who enjoy baking. My boss also travels worldwide and always - ALWAYS brings back chocolate. It's really hard to resist. Some days I need to redo my food schedule to work in the treats I take. Like today.

Remind me to do that. Raspberry bar at lunch. Yum!

Thanks!

So what you are saying is that if I want a cookie I should have a cookie, but just budget for it calorie wise. That makes sense. I forgot to mention that I am prediabetic so I really should avoid too many sugars

i agree wit the math approach.. makes a big difference... i find it easier to make small cuts on my meals through out the day to leave enough calorie room for a treat at night. I find it harder to have the treat morning mid day, because its harder to judge hunger. just my .02

Haha, far from it actually. I just had some crazy cravings last night. That is a very, very rare occurrence.

aw come on you can tell us - you're pregnant :) congratulations!!! :D

rice krispie treats are very tasty :) especially dipped in dark chocolate :D

Sometimes I feel like I am pregnant. Eating as many cals as I do, bloating tends to happen. I wake up with abs, I go to bed with a belly sitting on my lap.

I am on a pretty strict RMR diet... as such, I use the incentive of one free day per week. Usually Sunday. That way, all week long, I can say to myself, just wait til Sunday.

After the first couple of weeks. I couldn't handle eating that much on my free day. It works great for me.

Also, TWIN POPS, only 50cal. NO FAT!!! Whoo Hoo. I always keep a package in the freezer.
