Sport Treat Once A Week

Sport Fitness
Hey guys, I have recently changed from a beer and junk food lifestyle (though luckily im not overweight) to a healthier no crap diet but obviously this is abit of a struggle for me some days.
I have been told that starving yourself (not literally) of the food you like completely leads to you having enough of being healthy (suppose its a mental thing) So you are suppost to have somethign you like one day a week, but i was wondering how much damage this would do? Say going out with some mates and letting it go with getting wasted eating take aways one night, how much damage would this do to my routine of eating healthy and working out, will I put on weight or I dont know will it have any detrimental effect?

Thanks

it's better than doing it every single night, isn't it.........

Haha, LiveFromNY is right. If you're just starting out, going cold turkey might put you off the whole change entirely. If you can start right off with eating well 6 days a week then you're doing great. You'll find as your body starts changing, and the way you feel changes too, you'll start look forward to that day less and less. Enjoy the 6 healthy days, and then enjoy the 1 ... less-healthy day.

The difference between 90% adherance and 100% adherance is negligable.

If you eat 6 times/day, 7days/week, that's 42 feedings.

So, you can cheat 4 times per week. This means not counting calories, eating some junky food, skipping a meal, etc.

To build on what's already been posted... I am a believe in modertation. If my body is craving chocolate... it gets chocolate :)

With that said... some people cannot control their food intake. So moderation isn't really an option for them. The trick is to determine what you can handle and what you cannot. You know yourself and your patterns better than anyone else.

So long as you eat every 3 hours, drink plenty of water and your meals consist of a carb/protein combo... then a cheat meal here and there is not going to hurt, IMO.

Ah thanks guys, it's jsut im still young and life is too short to be eating healthy on a friday night when im out with my mates and dodging beer. I feel a little better about my one bad day a week now! Thanks

I would exercise some moderation when cheating though.

Like, pounding back a whole pizza WILL mess up your fat loss goals because its just so damn calorie dense.

But otherwise, yes cheat meals keep you sane :)
