Treadmill problems?

Hi. I don't know if this is the correct thread but here it goes anyway:

I purchased a treadmill from tv (shame on me and I don't advise it to anyone) because I need cardio in my workout. Sometimes the weather isn't so good here so cycling outdoors/skating isn't an option so I chose a treadmill for indoor days.
I loved this treadmill when it came, a Proform Crosstrainer. Smooth on the feet, pretty quiet, decent incline to work the gluts and good resistance. Problem is, it broke down after only two weeks.
The man came out to repair it and found that the belt inside the motor had come lose. He said this was unusal - for a treadmill but esp. a new one. He coughed it up to the travel it took via a storage truck and replaced it.
I used it the next day for twenty minuets and the treadmill broke again, same problem.

Has anyone come across this before? Because I ordered it off the tv my thirty days to return it are up.
My concern is safety. I can probably open up the cover with some tools and replace the belt again myself but I think it will detach again.

I have contacted the c.s. team of both Proform and the tv show I ordered it from. Proform is much more difficult because they don't have 24 hour help so I have to call them during a low time at work.

In the meantime I wondering what anyone else had done with this problem...

Thanks

Well contact is the main way around it. But what you should try is asking for a new one, as this one may just be faulty. If they refuse, threaten to go to trading standards. If the products are all poor and break after such a short time, then really it's not fit for purpose, in which case they could be in big trouble.
Most companies will brick it once you threaten the law against them and they'll either replace it with a new one or offer a refund.

Best of luck, hopefully you sort it out!

When I bought my nordic track stationary bike -it basically arrived broken - from being bounced around in shipping - One call to nordic track had a technician at my house and had it repaired and it hasn't broken again since.

I'd say if it broke again after they fixed it - then they owe you a new one...

Who can I go to complain to outside of the BBB and/or my cc company?
I really feel this company does not stand behind their product. My biggest complaint against Proform is that they don't have c.s. available around the clock. To me, such a big company that not only sells all their products on various home shopping networks but in large retail outlets/online stores ect...I feel there is no excuse to have c.s. available for twelve hours a day...a big company like that?
The second biggest complaint is that when you do call during their c.s. hours they are normally too busy to take any further holding calls. So you punch in your number and they call you back -WITHIN 24 HOURS! Then they advice the best way to reach them is via email but you can wait 48 hours for them!

Granted once I finally got a hold of them they did send out the parts they thought were wrong with the machine. They arrived about a week later and I was really hoping they would splurge and sent the stuff out to me fedex....but they seem to be a company that cuts corners. The stuff arrives and then I have to call the repairman out and wait another week for him to come to my town. He comes, places the belt back on and then leaves.
The machine breaks down after he leaves of course.
I call the tv show that I purchased this from once again and they tell me its a Proform problem. They are holding off charging my cc until June but advice me if I don't return the item to Proform they will bill my cc for this unworking treadmill. They also remind me that I am probably past the return policy date and tell me to go to a place like Best Buy and take a fridge box (???) yes they suggested this me, and pack the treadmill in a fridge box!!! Where do I start with that one huh? Does B.B. just hand out fridge boxes???

I call the repairman and tell him what happens and then he says that he thought there was something wrong with the motor which is causing the belt to slide off! He put the belt back on thinking it would work but gee whiz, it didn't and he didn't seem too suprised! Now I have to go down and open the boxes up that Proform had sent me and see if they sent a motor.

I have a headache.

I will NEVER purchase anything from this company again! EVER! They do not stand behind their product and good luck trying to get a hold of a real live human being.

I was reading someones post on Norditrack so maybe I will go with them next time I make a purchase only I wont order it from a tv shopping network. They are useless.

So back to question after my vent,,,,where can I take this from here?

I'd go back to your credit card company and document every conversation you've had with the proform
