Hi,

Well since everyone else was doing it I figured I would too.

I am a 40 yr old mum of 3 (20, 18, 14), I married my internet romance almost 8 years ago after he moved here from Minnesota USA, I have PCOS, I graduated University in December (get to wear the bad hat in May) and I work as a computer programmer for the government. I have battled with my weight all my life, and am hoping I can finally get somewhere.

I had a cool experience to find Cohens which I posted on the other general thread. I beleive that this means I am supposed to be here.

I am currently pre - cohens, waiting for my program. The Clinic rang me today to say they had all my paperwork so it will be early next week. I had asked if I could call in down there on Friday as I was in Sydney visiting my son, but they are closed on Friday :toetap05:

So I will wait, got home from the gym tonight after combat class and cooked a practice meal ( that's what hubby calls them). I am practicing with combinations of vegetables and getting ready for my new lifestyle.

But for now I am giving in and going to bed (just looked at our shares and wanted to cry ... lost $10000 off our portfolio today (there goes my retirement villa in the south of France). :banghead:

Night all :waving:

HI TW... I already welcomed you in the main thread but WELCOME AGAIN!... You have truly made a great decision! This has been the best thing ever for me! I hav just lost 40.2kgs and I still have about 15 to go!...

Here is a good thread for preparing for Cohens... I pretty much did something really similar to this and lost 3.5 in the week before my program arrived.

http://weight-loss.fitness.com/cohens-lifestyle/5676-prepare-cohens.html

I wish you all the very best with your journey and look forward to following your diary! If you can make the decision early on to not deviate... no MATTER WHAT the special occasion this will go so much easier for you... Believe me... I have seen my fair share of special occasions in 9 months and I decided I would not deviate to save myself the hassle and the guilt and the issues with "getting back on track" later on...

Anyway...

Well I have been gearing myself up for the start of the program, eliminating my carbs and making sure I leave 5 hours between meals. I so far have gained a kilo. Not a perfect scenario for me. So now I feel a bit scared.

I know it probably sounds funny to anyone who has not been through the mill trying to lose weight but I am terrified that I will be the one person in 200 that it doesn't work for. I am so used to having to work really hard for little or no reward but after a 4 year 800 - 1000cal a day diet with at least 6 hours a week of exercise only to stay on a plateau 17kg down after 2 years I am worried. If this doesn't work I don't know what I will do. I am so frustrated and fed up.

My doctor suggested about 8 months ago that i try reductil for a month to try and kick me through the plateau, apparently in 99.7% of people it makes you hyped up and curbs your hunger. Well I don't normally get hungry, but on reductil I could have eaten a horse at every meal and I kept falling asleep on the couch. Verdict, I wasn't eating enough for diet pills to work.

I had been on metformin for 3 years for my PCOS to regulate my insulin resistance, I went off them a month ago as they don't seem to be working for much except draining my wallet. But now I wonder if my system will react the way it shoudl after being on them for a while.

So you see as I sit and wait I am excited and can't wait to start ....... but I am terrified it won't work.

Thanks for listening, if I say that to anyone here they will think I am a fruit loop.

Connie

Hi Treading

Welcome again. If you stick to this program 100% it will work......think positive. I know you are preparing by cutting back on carbs and waiting the 5 hours but it isn't the same as when you see the program. On cohens their are certain foods we can and can't have and they are only to be eaten at certain times of the day. There is too much detail for me to go into but when you get your plan you will see. It is a very regimented plan and the food and spices you eat a very restictive. So keep the faith and DO NOT DOUBT YOURSELF. Before you know it you will slim and sexy Mummy.

All the best.

Sam:)

Connie, :iagree: with Sam. The program is very specific & will work! Be confident. This one works! I look forward to reading about your successful weight-loss journey, cheers, cate.

Hi guys I just got home from the gym and I feel better today.

My personal trainer said, I have never shied away from any challenge in the gym, and I got my degree while working full time and being a mum, so this is just another challenge. Then she said drop and give me 50, and I calculated how many calories I could burn if I punched her LOL. We have a love hate relationship......... she loves bossing me around and I hate it.

Thanks for your supportive words girls , it does help, I know I was putting the cart before the horse, but I am getting pretty desperate, you know how it is.

Thanks again.

We sure do (know how it is) Treading. Remember we have all been in the same boat when it comes to weight loss.
Sometimes just reading other people's post is like dejavu of your own wieght loss battles.
Bye for now
Sam:)

OK well I finally heard from the parramatta clinic today, only after I emailed asking about which multivitamin I should buy as I am just about to run out. I was told I should have my program on Monday or Tuesday as they got it back from Dr Cohen today. However they didn't actually say it had been posted so I guess I will wait and see.

In the mean time I have eliminated, milk, bread, all sugars and all carbohydrates except for the naturally occuring ones from my diet. I am used to small portion sizes so I have kept them small (around 110g protein, 110g vegetables).

I have lost some weight (probably due to the water consumption and initial changeover). But I just wish I had my program ( it's two weeks on Monday since my blood tests).

I have a cold/chest infection today so I feel breathless and crappy.

Well I cannot change it so I will continue on and see what Monday brings. If this is how Parramatta clinic is going to contact and support me I may as well have done it in the USA using my mother in laws address LOL.

What a pain having to wait so long, I had my blood test on Monday and my program was ready on Wednesday to pick up but could get in there till Thurs, then started on Fri. I understand your frustration, I too would just want to get this going, 2 weeks is a long time to wait.

Sorry to hear your not feeling well, I hope you pick up soon and are feeling better.

Hey TW

Way to go on the loss so far by just eliminating a few things. It must be so frustrating , I hope you get it soon, start the program and join us on this amazing journey!

Fingers crossed for you

Hey TW

Sounds like you have the right frame of mind for this!! Well done on getting yourself organised and ready to go! I too cut out everything and changed portion sizes in the week or so before my program arrived and I found it really useful and I seemed to have had no detox etc that others talk about…

There have been many discussions about the lack of support some clinics offer etc (some do really well and others… well they don’t!! … I live regionally in WA and any support I need I really have to ask for, I need to make the first contact etc…however I get most of it online through these forums!! You will find that most of your questions can probably be answered right here on the forums! That’s what it was for me and I have had a few questions over 9 months…. I have still contacted my clinic but it can take them awhile to get back to me and its not like I can just pop in!

Anyway… just wanted to say well done on your success in preparing so far!!! You will soon start to see some amazing changes!! I hope you have also started measuring! Cos you would have already started to lose cm’s as well as kgs in your prep time!! I measure weekly and some weeks its impossible to believe that you could actually lose that many cms in just a week!!

hi there-

i do not see very much movement on this forum at all.

Hi Guys,

Well I started and have been doing well. after 9 weeks have lost almost 12kg.

I confess I went to the dark side as the girl who introduced me to Cohens was on the other forum. It gets a bit busy over there so I have been pretty much just hanging out there.

No offence meant... I just have friends who are on there.

If you would like to delete this entry please feel free to do so

Hiya Connie

Way to go on the 12 kilos...thats awesome.

No one is going to delete your post, it's no biggie about being part of NewYou. I often read alot of New you members entries, I am not a member there but I have been following some of the diaries there, love reading Faithy's, she is awesome and done great!.

This was the original Cohens forum where lots of Aussies posted on here, Asy then created the NewYou forum and alot of people went there as it was exclusive to Cohens only.

Good luck with the rest of your journey.
