Travel/exercise question

I will be travelling for a few days with no access to exercise equipment. I can easily get out and run to get my cardio in but someone suggested I pick up some elastic exercise bands to use to replace weights for the other part of my workout. I will not be able to pack any hand weights. Do you think these bands will help in doing what normally would be my weight workout? Also I know nothing about them so what do I look for in buying them, length etc.?

If you're staying at a hotel, check to see if they have fitness facilities already - then you won't have to worry. I'm not entirely familiar with the bands but I have used before and they seemed to work well.
