Training Wear - Important?

Im begining my 2 year trek to becoming a Police Officer, with hopes of getting into the R.C.M.P or O.P.P afterwards. They have VERY high expectations from you in a physical sense, so I need to be a powerful athlete.

Once school starts on the 8th, I'll be in Gym class 3 days a week with an ex OPP ( Ontario Provincial Police ) drill sargeant. The 2 remaining days I don't have gym, I'll be going there on my own time. Gym class is approx 1-1.5 hours per session.

What Im curious of is, will wearing certain clothing make it easier or is that all just a crock to get you to waste more money? Im seeing all these fancy shoes that say they aid you in training but, I don't really see how that's possible.

All Im looking for , are light, grippy shoes that'll stand up to a beating, and clothing that breathes. What's with all this crap people buy that is supposed to help your vascular system .....

if you are planning on running, whether indoor or outdoor, GOOD FITTING, and quality shoes are critical.

they will promote better form, prevent injury, and there is plenty of pain in running without the pain of cheap shoes.

Well, I have kinda High Arches. I heard a rumor that, when people with high arches run a lot the arches flatten out? and cause you to grow a 1/2 inch er so? Sounds like a wives tale but, It's interesting.

I think I have poor running form too, because my feet feel REALLY heavy when I run, and sometimes "slap" the ground. Although I am wearing skateboard shoes while running

Running and lifting are very different. For running, yes. You need decent shoes and some clothes wick moisture better.

For lifting....it's a croc. Chuck Taylor's work great.

Me? I lift in basketball shorts, commanded if you needed to know, and barefoot.

I ride the trails in cargo shorts and hiking boots.

What about stuff like, underarmor gear. I've always ran in shorts and a t short but I keep seeing people in all this fancy, form fitting gear. Other than helping you drain your bank account, is there any purpose to it?
