I purchased about a cup of the Sprouts Caramel Trail Mix the other day and have been eating about small handful to resist breaking into a candy bar when the sweet craving just gets to be too much.

When I went to add my tablespoon of trail mix to fitday I couldn't believe the calories. I couldn't find the nutritional information on the exact trail mix, but fitday says 1 cup of trail mix is generally over 700 calories. Is this true? This would put my little handful is well over 100 calories! I could have two funsized snickers for that!

I can't imagine how trail mix composed of mostly nuts could possibly be worse than a snickers. Do you have any links to types of trail mix and the nutritional information?

most trail mix is very high in calories because it's baked with oil... you can make your own to save some calories, but those nuts and dried fruits etc add up...

some grocery stores have the low fat trail mix which is a little better calories wise...

Sad isn't it -that you think you're doing something good for your body and you end up taking in more calories than you'd expect :(

Fiddlesticks!

yeah, I've said that before too! lol It's disappointing when you think your eating something low cal only to find it through the roof.

I happen to love trail mix, but I tend to only eat it when I'm hiking, camping or kayaking. Great source of energy and easy to carry

Little tip - find a good low fat granola then add your own dry roasted nuts to it. That way you can control how much fat you want to eat.
