Track,Help a sista out!!

Hey everyone,

So the tryouts for track at my university are coming up this september (i know its far but I want to get a head start). Im 18 5'9 and about 145lb-150lb ( im not too sure). I know that im really good at short distance races but the problem is that i haven't done track since grade 10. Im really confused about how exactly i should start training and what kind of food i should eat in order to get my speed back up. So if anyone could please give me some tips on what kind of work out regimens and diets i should be on that would be great

Thanks :)!

How much are you running right now? If you are running what kind of running are you doing? Do you do any plyos or strength training? Give some background on where you are in your fitness.

I would say my fitness level isnt all that great. I dont do plyos or strength trainings. When i do run i mostly jog so i can increase my stamina. Im a short distance runner so i usualy do 100m or 200m races. Thats why im asking, i want to start from scratch. Thank you

I know short distance running requires a lot of muscle, so weight training would help. A few long runs would probably be good too for your cardio. A lot of people carb load, but I think that you should base your diet on how you feel. Personally, I run without eating anything in the morning, and then eat after. That works for me, but some people need to eat lots before heading out. If you are serious about training, try asking on the forums of runningahead.com , they have a lot of super experienced runners on their site and even some doctors/med students who can give you professional responses. Good luck!

thank you so much!
